UFC on FX 4: Who's on the Hot Seat?
UFC on FX 4 comes to you live Friday night, with fights taking place on Facebook, Fuel TV and FX. The card will be headlined by lightweight contenders Gray Maynard and Clay Guida, who will battle to move one step closer to the championship.
Also on the card are a handful of fighters who are likely fighting for their jobs. These fighters have lost a couple of bouts recently and could use a win to earn job security.
Here are four fighters on the hot seat coming into UFC on FX 4.
Ricardo Funch
1 of 4Ricardo Funch is in his second stint with the UFC, and so far it has started like his first. Funch is currently 0-3 in the UFC, losing once each by decision, submission and knockout.
His second stint started off with a quick knockout loss to Mike Pyle. The only saving grace for Funch is that he took the fight on very short notice, saving the fight for Pyle.
Should Funch fall victim to defeat against Dan Miller tomorrow, he will likely be on his way out of the company again. An 0-4 record in the UFC is simply unacceptable.
Ken Stone
2 of 4Ken Stone may be 1-1 in the UFC, but he is 1-2 under the Zuffa banner. Yes, Stone is coming off a win over Donny Walker, but his 0-2 start saw Stone get brutally knocked out twice.
First, Eddie Wineland did his best Rampage Jackson impersonation, knocking out Stone out with a slam. Then, Scott Jorgensen blasted Stone with a brutal ground strike that left him unconscious.
A win here seems like a must in my mind. Let's just hope Stone can stop the momentum of Dustin Pague, a man only two weeks removed from his last fight.
Rick Story
3 of 4A once-promising future now looks a little murky, as one of the hottest rising stars, Rick Story, has fallen on hard times in his last couple of bouts.
Story has dropped two fights in a row, halting an impressive six-fight win streak. A loss here may not get Story kicked out of the UFC, but it certainly won't do him any favors.
Story was originally supposed to fight Rich Attonito, then Papy Abedi stepped in for him and finally settled on Brock Jardine. Hopefully, this doesn't mess with his game plan (an obvious jab at his comments following his loss to Charlie Brenneman).
Spencer Fisher
4 of 4Spencer Fisher has provided many exciting moments in his long UFC career, but a loss to Sam Stout in their trilogy may get him exiled from the company.
Currently, Fisher is 1-4 in his last five—including dropping his last two bouts. Fisher is currently 36 years old, which shows that he has high mileage.
A win over Stout would not only clinch their rubber match but secure Fisher's job for at least one more scrap. A loss, on the other hand, would be the end of a fan-friendly career.
