The Big Show: Why His Current Run Is the Best He's Ever Been in WWE
Finally, we are seeing what a “real” giant does in the ring.
After years of waiting for the persona to come out and make an impact on the WWE, the Big Show, aka Paul Wight, is showing he can be a true force in the company.
While this is similar to what has happened to Mark Henry over the last 13 years, Big Show has held numerous titles in the company, but he has not been truly used in the manner best suited for him.
Maybe this was the push he needed. And while John Laurinaitis was “fired” from his duties as general manager on both Raw and SmackDown, I suspect that will not be the last time you see Johnny Ace on screen. He probably will be a manager or advisor of some sort to Big Show, David Otunga and may have his hands in the Brock Lesnar/Triple H situation.
Stay tuned.
Big Show is mean, angry and legit.
Finally.
He speaks his mind. He walks the walk and talks the talk. No more gimmick where he looks like he is a dope, a cartoon character or something or someone Vince McMahon uses as one of his puppets in an '80s version of the WWF.
It did not work, and while he was chasing Cody Rhodes for the title, we still saw a seven-foot, 450-pound man being used as a prop at the circus.
Big Show has been a tag team champion and held virtually every title there is in the company. But the commitment to his strengths and his “attitude” by WWE management is finally paying off (if they stick with his persona and not shy away from the intimidation factor).
A crying, bumbling wrestler is not what you want to see in a man his size.
And if he ever made a connection with Brock Lesnar and they become tag team champions or take over Raw, look out.
Mark Henry was the last great big man and heel to truly strike fear in wrestlers before Lesnar made his return to the company. Now on hiatus, the WWE needed a big man to take over the top heel spot (aside from Daniel Bryan), and Big Show does that.
Whether he remains in that capacity or not has not been determined. But if the WWE is looking to find someone to cause a little trouble while other wrestlers get over their injuries, suspensions and discontent, then this may be the best way to go.
It looks like the WWE has awakened a sleeping giant.
