Players to Watch For
Graeme McDowell
Tied for the overall lead heading in with 209, Graeme McDowell has only to play against himself in Round 4.
Although he's been inconsistent thus far, McDowell went from hitting a 72 in Round 2 to a 68 in Round 3. Provided he maintains that momentum and starts off well, we'll see McDowell run away with the title as holes 13-18 have been his best to this point with a par or birdie each round.
Beau Hossler
Despite being an amateur, Beau Hossler has made a name for himself at the 2012 US Open. He's currently tied for eighth place with 213 and is, by a wide margin, the top amateur at the Olympic Club.
Perhaps the most interesting story about Hossler's 2012 US Open has been hole four. There, Hossler double-bogeyed it in Round 2, but managed to make that a birdie in Round 3.
For such a young player, that's an impressive adjustment to the course, and it certainly will show us more confidence in Round 4.
Ernie Els
After getting worked by the course with a 75 in the first round, Ernie Els made a quick turnaround by hitting 69 in Round 2 and a 68 in Round 3.
The fast change helped Els jump to being tied at the No. 4 position and a realistic shot to catch McDowell.
Holes one, four and five have been the roughest for Els in this tournament and improving there is imperative. With a bogey on holes one and five in two of the first three rounds and no better than a bogey on four, Els has to get these to par or he'll remain out of legit contention.
