Worlds Collide! SmackDown! vs. RAW @ Wrestlemania 24
With about two and a half weeks till the "Greatest Spectacle in Sports Entertainment," I believe it's time to build up some more hype towards the most unpredictable pay per view of the year. After last year's impressive show, the WWE is looking to improve that (like they need it) by the first Brand Supremacy Match involving two of WWE's top superstars. Here now is a look at the two superstars involved in the melee.
RAW's Umaga
No one has been more impressive in 2008 than the Samoan Bulldozer. After an impressive showing in the Elimination Chamber at No Way Out, Raw GM William Regal wasted no time in not only accepting SmackDown GM Vickie Guererro's brand challenge, but also picking which RAW Superstar will represent the Monday night brand at Wrestlemania.

Umaga's resume speaks for itself. With victories over many of the top superstars in the business, including Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Jeff Hardy, and Bobby Lashley, the Samoan Bulldozer wasted no time in making himself a force to be reckoned with. Though his only championship has been the Intercontinental Championship, Umaga has taken every superstar to their proverbial limits. Included in that list of superstars who know the wrath of Umaga, but still hold victories over him are John Cena, Bobby Lashley, and Jeff Hardy.
Many speculated that if Umaga didn't make a name for himself in '08, he wouldn't last very long in the WWE. Despite losing in the Chamber, Umaga did leave a lasting impression on everyone who crossed his path. And truth be told, he hasn't stopped inflicting punishment on his opponents. With Armando Estrada busy as GM on ECW, it's become clear that without someone to control his actions, RAW better get a lot of stretchers ready for whoever pulls Umaga's name out of the hat. So who on SmackDown can actually go toe to toe and blow for blow with Umaga? Funny you should ask that....
SmackDown's Batista
Even before the days of Evolution, everyone knew that given the chance, Dave Batista would make one hell of an impact. During his time with the supergroup, he learned a lot from the two eldest members of the group, Ric Flair and Triple H. And he used that tutelage to his advantage when he captured his first World Championship at Wrestlemania 21. The rest has been a combo of blurs and broken bodies.
After his championship victory over Triple H in a Hell in a Cell later that year, the Animal was drafted to SmackDown! where he continued his unbelievable dominance. Having only lost the championship twice in his illustrious career, Batista has continued to take on the biggest and baddest that SmackDown! has to offer. And it was no surprise that his Wrestlemania 23 match against The Undertaker was voted the best match of 2007 on WWE.com. En route to defeating the likes of Mark Henry, The Great Khali, Finlay, and even Rey Mysterio, Batista reigned over the SmackDown! kingdom until the end of 2007.
That brings us to present day where the Animal continues to dominate the competition, and is looking to send a message to RAW. Batista stepped up to the plate one week ago to fight on behalf of his brand against RAW's own animal. To send a message to Umaga, Batista defeated two of SmackDown's biggest up and comers: MVP and The Great Khali. Batista has already proven that he can break a 400 pound 7 foot Giant down, but can he take out an almost 400 pound human wrecking machine?
On Sunday March 30th, the Bulldozer and the Animal will collide in one of the most dangerous matches in Wrestlemania history, and it will be for Supremacy of their respective brands. Will RAW show that they are the more dominating brand with Umaga? Or will the Animal show that SmackDown! is far more superior than their rivals/cohorts on Monday night? It's the videogame brought to reality. It's SmackDown vs. RAW, and it's going down in Orlando, Florida at the Citrus Bowl at Wrestlemania.
