Meanwhile, UCLA's season is now over.
UPDATE: Tuesday, June 18 at 6:45 p.m. ET by Richard Langford
With UCLA and Florida State battling for the tournament lives on Tuesday night being the only game scheduled for the day, it is a good time to get caught up with where the tournament stands.
Tournament favorites Florida and underdogs Stony Brook lost their first two games and were the fist, and so far only, teams to be eliminated.
On the other end of that spectrum sits Arizona and Arkansas. They are 2-0 and now just one win away from the finals.
Arizona will take on the winner of the UCLA-Florida State game on Thursday, and Arkansas awaits the winner of Wednesday's battle between South Carolina and Kent State.

Arkansas 2, South Carolina 1
After winning a tournament record 22 straight games, two-time defending champs South Carolina have tasted defeat.
The Razorbacks jumped out to a 2-0 lead by the fourth inning, and they let their pitching do the rest of the work. Ryne Stanek and Barrett Astin combined to hurl a four hitter.
Arkansas is now just one win away from the finals, and South Carolina bounces down to the loser's bracket where they will face Cinderella Kent State next.
UPDATE: Monday, June 18 at 9:32 p.m. ET by Richard Langford
Kent State 5, Florida 4
Well, this was unexpected. Lightly heralded Kent State has eliminated Florida, the school many had pegged as the favorites.
Kent State took advantage of some sloppy play by Florida to notch a 5-4 win on Monday. Four of Kent State's runs were unearned in this game, and the one that wasn't came as a result of a wild pitch.
They were up 4-0 after two innings, and scored their final run in the fourth. Florida closed the gap to one run after a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh, but couldn't plate another, despite loading the bases in the ninth with one out.

Stony Brook vs. UCLA (Stony Brook 1, UCLA 9)
Arizona vs. Florida State (Arizona 4, Florida State 3)
UCLA rode Adam Plutko to their first victory in this year's College World Series. Plutko turned in a strong, seven-inning performance. He scattered five hits and struck out seven Stony Brook batters. he bulk of the Bruin scoring came from Jeff Gelalich in the game's opening stanza , and Kevin Williams widened the gap in the third inning.
Teams may want to beware of this scorching hot Bruin squad. They've won 10 straight contests and boast a plus-32 run differential so far in the NCAA tournament.
UCLA will face Arizona Sunday night. Stony Brook will try to continue their Cinderella run against Florida State.
The second game of this year's opening action was much more exciting.
Florida State and Arizona scored three runs apiece by the time the sixth inning rolled around. The score remained knotted up until Johnny Field's RBI double in the top of the 12th inning. Field's run-scoring slam setup freshman closer Mathew Troupe to close the game out.
Troupe slammed the door in the bottom half of the twelfth, and the Wildcats emerged victorious. As mentioned before, they will play fellow Pac-12 representative UCLA Sunday night.

Kent State vs. Arkansas (Kent State 1, Arkansas 8)
South Carolina vs. Florida (South Carolina 7, Florida 3)
Razorback pitchers Brandon Moore and DJ Baxendale combined for a four-hitter against the Golden Flashes on Saturday. Stellar pitching, combined with timely hits from Jake Wise and Matt Vinson, sent the Golden Flashes packing in their first College World Series appearance.
The Golden Flashes will try to remain alive against Florida on Monday. Arkansas will move on to face the Gamecocks of South Carolina.
South Carolina emerged victorious behind a solid start from southpaw Michael Roth. Erik Payne helped his cause with a bases-loaded triple in the fifth inning to pull the Gamecocks in front.
Roth and company are seeking their third straight College World Series title. Beating this year's No. 1 team is certainly the right approach to take.
Now, the Gamecocks must defeat the Razorbacks while Florida tries to remain alive against Kent State on Monday.
