WWE No Way Out 2012: 5 Outlandish Predictions

Cardiff WandererJun 7, 2018

Whenever someone attempts to predict a WWE pay-per-view, they take into consideration the current trends in the business, historical precedent from former events and a little of what they desire to see on television.

These different aspects are combined in a person's mind to create an educated guess, which tends to be relatively accurate.

Here are five predictions where desire has been given more weight in the equation. These have produced more outlandish ideas, but they might just happen at No Way Out 2012

Sheamus Will Brogue Kick Ziggler Off The Top Rope

1 of 5

Predicting a finishing move from the top rope isn't a particularly outlandish statement, as many finishers have a flying alternative, however the "Big Boot" from the top rope has a famously painful past.

Older fans will have already winced at the memory of Sid Vicious' leg snapping and flailing limply after performing the top rope Big Boot. The video is here but should be viewed with caution, as this was a real injury that is very obvious to the viewer.

This move has not been recreated by anyone as big as Vicious since the incident, although it has been used by some smaller wrestlers in Japan as part of their high-flying action, so reintroducing the move with Sheamus would have a lot of impact.

The "Brogue Kick" from the top rope would be spectacular, and Dolph Ziggler is the ideal candidate to sell the move appropriately. Sheamus might want to land on his back rather than his leg, though.

John Cena Will Win Via Being Thrown Through The Cage

2 of 5

Big Show shocked the world when he landed in the WWE in 1999 and threw "Stone Cold" Steve Austin through the cage, inadvertently giving "The Rattlesnake" the victory.

This giant that had been misused in WCW was being booked as the unstoppable monster that he looked like.

Despite the many bizarre turns that Big Show's career has taken since, it would have great symmetry if he performed that first mind-blowing act once again.

John Cena is the perfect opponent to do this to, as he is the face of WWE like Austin was in the day. Vince McMahon is also involved in the storyline, although this time the result would go for the boss rather than against him.

If this is Big Show's last run as a WWE main-eventer, it would be a fitting way to see him exit the spotlight.

AJ's Presence At Ringside Will Allow Punk And Bryan To Finish Close

3 of 5

The end of the CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan title match at Over The Limit was one of the most exciting finishes of the year. Punk clearly got the three-count victory, but how much he was aware of the situation has been left to the mind of the fans.

Adding Kane to the match seems to stop that inevitability from happening again, however AJ will use her feminine wiles to distract the monster and possibly remove him from the matchup altogether.

This will leave Punk vs. Bryan in a one-on-one match once again, and the close finish will come to pass.

The most probable outcome will see Punk catching Bryan in the Anaconda Vice with Bryan then rolling up the "Straight Edge Superstar" to claim the WWE title in a reversal of Over The Limit.

This then sets up a rubber match for the title at Money In The Bank in a submission match, so one has to tap to the other without being able to bypass the move into a pinfall.

Ryback Will Face Vader

4 of 5

Most people expect Ryback to have another unannounced squash match on the PPV, but the WWE will show that Vader has been brought in to help build Ryback's reputation.

Vader is the perfect opponent to help build a monster, because he was one.

Vader was a three-time WCW champion with long feuds with Cactus Jack and Sting, and he then went on to feud with Undertaker in WWE.

Vader destroyed lesser opponents in a similarly one-sided way as Ryback does now, and both men share the ability to get across personality without doing a great deal of talking.

Allowing Ryback to dominate Vader would be a great "passing of the torch" moment, and with this, Ryback's rise—which is inevitable—can begin.

Cody Rhodes And Christian Will Be Given 15 Minutes To Develop A Match

5 of 5

Few fans would believe that the WWE will give an undercard match 15 minutes of airtime in a pay-per-view. Rarely does a match on the lower card last long, and it sometimes feels like the superstars' entrances are longer.

This means many performers don't get to show their true ability.

However, the WWE has no choice but to hand such a significant chunk of time to the Intercontinental title battle between Christian and Cody Rhodes, as the WWE needs to see if Rhodes can draw enough heat to be a heel World champion.

Rhodes is one of the most accomplished wrestlers in the company, as he has impressed on the mic, but the right opportunity to push him to the top has never occurred. The WWE is now forced into promoting Rhodes, as suspensions and injuries have depleted many of the heel championship contenders.

Christian is a great choice of opponent because he is so over with the crowd and has the in-ring ability to get the best out of Rhodes. This may even be the match that steals the show.
