Robert Nkemdiche Picks Clemson: Who Else Is Surprised?
It's no longer a report. Robert Nkemdiche has officially committed to the Clemson Tigers per Brandon Brigman of the Gwinnett Daily Post, Nkemdiche's hometown newspaper.
According to Brigman's article, the 6"4', 270-pound defensive end was at Clemson this week for a three-day camp:
"Nkemdiche was in Clemson this week for a three-day camp with his head coach Mickey Conn and some of his teammates. Conn was teammates with Clemson head coach Dabo Sweeny at Alabama.
Nkemdiche's best friend and cornerback David Kamara committed to Clemson on Wednesday. They joined running back Wayne Gallman, who committed to the Tigers in April.
"
I'm not the only one who probably thinks this, but where did Clemson come from?
I know they were in the top five, but I, like many other people, believed he would end up at one of two places—Alabama or Ole Miss. Alabama because of their history and the fact that they're a national title contender, or Ole Miss because that's where his brother is playing.
Some of us Georgia fans still hung on to hope that he would commit to the Bulldogs, but we all knew that it was an outside chance.
But still, Clemson?
Honestly, after seeing his best friend and another high school teammate commit to the Tigers, it's no surprise he wanted to join them there.
Was this a package deal?
I'm guessing Nkemdiche didn't tell Clemson to offer to his two teammates and he'll go there, because they're both good players in their own right.
But, it didn't hurt that they committed there, either.
Nobody talked about them being a serious contender for Nkemdiche's services.
But, they got him, and that's all that matters.
