US Open Leaderboard 2012: Latest Updates on Top Trios
No matter who your favorite may be, surely you'll be curious how players like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson or Masters champion Bubba Watson are faring after the first day of the 2012 US Open in San Francisco.
Perhaps you are curious to see how young talents like Rory McIlroy are playing, or whether consistent performers such as Luke Donald and Lee Westwood can find glory at the Olympic Club.
Or maybe you are intrigued by the grouping of Martin Kaymer, Hunter Mahan and Justin Rose, with Mahan and Rose looking to secure their first Major and Kaymer seeking his second.
Those are the three groupings I am most curious about, that's for sure. Let's update the progress of each.
Thursday Play
At the time of publication, only the grouping of Woods, Mickelson and Watson had completed play. The range of play for this trio could not be more disparate.
Woods is exactly where he wants to be, three shots off of leader Michael Thompson after shooting a solid 69 (-1) for the day. He looked confident throughout the day and will hope to replicate and perhaps improve slightly upon his Thursday effort.
Mickelson and Watson, however, will now each need a strong Friday to simply make the cut.
