With the ninth pick in the 2009 B/R NFL Mock Draft, the Green Bay Packers have selected...Brian Orakpo; Defensive End, Texas. The San Francisco 49ers are now on the clock.
Now that the Packers have switched to a 3-4 defense, they are going to need some hybrid pass rushing outside linebackers. Orakpo has the potential to fit that mold at the next level, and completes arguably the best linebackers group in the NFC with Aaron Kampman, Nick Barnett, A.J. Hawk, and now Orakpo.
Now it's off to the Golden State where we will take a look at the San Francisco 49ers, a team who is on the cusp of a playoff birth.
The 49ers allowed more sacks than any team in the NFL last season, and struggled to close out games. Still, there was fight in the dog, and the 49ers showed great improvement under their new head coach, Mike Singletary.
Here is a look at what the 49ers' top needs should be come draft day, in no specific order.
1. Offensive Line
2. Quarterback
3. Pass Rushing OLB
4. Safety
5. Wide Receiver

1. Matthew Stafford; Quarterback, Georgia
Stafford really has no business falling this far, but I have seen crazier things come draft day. He has the strongest arm in the draft, and he has the potential to be a franchise quarterback, which the 49ers missed on with Alex Smith.
2. Mark Sanchez; Quarterback, USC
The 49ers have three guys going into camp that could potentially compete for a starting job, and they need a player who is going to stand out above the rest. Sanchez has experience in a pro style offense, and could be a great fit in San Francisco.
3. Michael Oher; Offensive Tackle, Mississippi
This is probably the highest I could see Oher going on draft day. The 49ers have a potentially great player with Joe Staley, but adding Oher could help solidify their offensive line. It has been reported that the team wants to build around Chilo Rachal, and this would be a great first step.
4. Everette Brown; Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Florida State
Tully Banta Cain has been a bust as a free agent, and Manny Lawson hasn't lived up to his first round potential. San Francisco needs a top end pass rusher to play outside linebacker in their 3-4 scheme, and Brown could be just that guy.
5. Aaron Maybin; Defensive End/Outside Linebacker, Penn State
Maybin is another one of those playmaking hybrid defensive ends. He has the athleticism to play outside linebacker at the next level, and the consensus is that is what he will play in the NFL.
6. Rey Maualuga; Middle Linebacker, USC
This wouldn't fill a major area of need, but Singletary may be intrigued by the star middle linebacker out of USC. Patrick Willis has already established himself as one of the best MLB's in the NFL, but Takeo Spikes isn't getting any younger, and Maualuga could form a great tandem with Willis.
There you have it 49ers fans! Make the vote in the poll for who you think should be the 10th overall pick in this year's draft!
