Pacquiao vs. Bradley Results: Biggest Villains from Shocking Decision
The decision heard 'round the boxing world in the Manny Pacquiao versus Timothy Bradley fight has certainly created its fair share of villains and rightfully so; it's a despicable footnote in the history of boxing.
Taking a victory away from a fighter that absolutely deserves it is wrong in every sense of the word, and there's no doubt that Pacquiao was robbed, unless you are apart of a very small minority who believes otherwise.
Not sure who to be mad at the most in all this? Let me help clear that up.
Timothy Bradley
Sure, Bradley didn't fix the fight himself; in fact, if anyone told the most truth in all of this, it's Bradley. He made it abundantly clear that despite the decision, Desert Storm's boxing skills look amateur compared to Pac-Man's.
Still, Bradley didn't see it that way and even doubted Pacquiao's power, according to ESPN.com:
"I thought I won the fight," Bradley said. "I didn't think he was as good as everyone says he was. I didn't feel his power."
Really? As if it wasn't Bradley stumbling around the ring as a result of Pacquiao's hard left hands. I won't even address the disrespect of saying that Pac-Man might have been overly-hyped. Bradley clearly didn't see the same fight.
The current welterweight champ won't be getting any respect for his belt anytime soon.
Bob Arum
Few in this mess stand to make more money than Arum if a rematch were to occur; so naturally any fixing conspiracies will involve the boxing promoter.
Arum has expressed outrage over the decision, according to Ray Brewer of the Las Vegas Sun:
“I don’t want to do a rematch,” Arum said. “This fight was a one-sided fight. If it had been scored properly — 10-2 or 9-3 — who would be asking for a rematch? Nobody. Just because these officials screwed up, that doesn’t justify a rematch."
Any outrage coming out of Arum's mouth seems phony at best, and it doesn't even begin to justify what really happened here. The worst part is that eventually this rematch has to happen, and people will still buy it because they love Pac-Man.
That means the boxing promoter will reap all the benefits once again, taking a payday he didn't deserve in the least bit.
Judges
The centerpiece of this boxing disgrace comes in the form of three boxing judges who sit ringside and score the fight. If one fighter can't finish the job before the end of all the rounds, the decision of the fight is left at their mercy.
What's worse is that human beings aren't perfect, and whether they are incompetent or corrupt, an obvious decision such as Pacquiao-Bradley can be blundered the way it was.
One of the judges, Duane Ford, stated quite clearly that he believed his decision was the right one and even went as far to say Desert Storm gave Pac-Man a "boxing lesson" according to Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Talk about making matters worse.
Not only did the judge get it wrong once again, he also took a jab at one of the best fighters on the planet. There was no lesson handed out if it wasn't Pac-Man doing the teaching.
