Pacquiao vs. Bradley: Will Canelo-Ortiz Erase Memory of Pacquiao's Loss?
In the aftermath of Manny Pacquiao (54-4-2, 38 KO) losing a controversial decision to Timothy Bradley (29-0, 12 KO), Golden Boy Promotions Richard Schaefer has the perfect antidote—a fight that will leave the judges at home.
Pacquiao's bad decision loss has encouraged Schaefer to begin negotiations for a fight between WBC junior middleweight champ Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (40-0-1, 29 KO) and Victor Ortiz (29-3-2, 22 KO).
The fight takes place on Sept. 15 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas with Canelo's WBC 154-pound title on the line.
Considering the crushing, fight-ending power in both men's hands, the sheer determination in both of these young fighter's hearts and their moderately suspect chins, this fight will definitely end in a knockout.
All this talk of leaving the judges at home and all but guaranteeing a knockout is just what the public needs in the aftermath of such a high-profile bad decision in the Pacquiao-Bradley fight.
The classic All-Mexican brawl would position the winner for big things, including a possible encounter with former three-division world champ Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30 KO).
From there, maybe even Floyd Mayweather (43-0, 26 KO) could be in store for the victor.
