US Open Favorites 2012: How Tiger Woods Will Capture No. 15
Tiger Woods is back...in a way.
A miraculous chip-shot in the Memorial Open has catapulted him to the top of the field at the US Open 2012, and he will be sure to win his 15th Major in his career at The Olympic Club. The 112th US Open features a talented field, but Tiger's recent momentum and clear mind will help him win his fourth US Open.
Tiger suffered one of the biggest falls from grace in sports history after the news of his infidelity broke in November 2008, and he and his wife, Elin Nordegren, divorced.
Tiger had won 14 Majors and was on his way to becoming the greatest golfer in history when the news broke. His emotional turmoil, coming after a knee injury in April 2008, resulted in a huge setback in his career.
Woods fell from his No. 1 spot in the world golf rankings, and he hasn't won a Major Championship since 2008. Ironically, the last Major that he won was the US Open. Since beating Rocco Mediate at Torrey Pines, he hasn't been the same golfer, but he looks to right the ship this week.
Woods has been having a great 2012, winning first at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in March before winning the Memorial in impressive fashion.
Tiger looks as though his mind is clear and his stroke is down. He is returning to form, and has great momentum heading into the US Open.
Woods is confident enough to win his first Major in four years, and confidence is the key for him at this point. He completely lost his confidence after his well-documented separation, which is a big reason why he has struggled in recent years.
Now that he has momentum on his side, we are about to see the Tiger Woods of old.
The best golfer in history is returning to form at just 36-years-old, giving him time to win multiple Majors before his career ends.
There couldn't be a better time for Tiger to be peaking, as he is in excellent position to win No. 15 and more.
