Why No Way Out Will Be WWE's Best PPV of 2012
With the 2012 No Way Out pay-per-view Sunday, June 12, the excitement from the fans over the forgotten show isn’t as high as the WWE would like.
For as much as this time of the year is known for mediocre cards and terrible PPVs, the company has the chance to put on their best event of 2012 right now—even trumping WrestleMania 28.
While jaded fans won’t even give No Way Out the chance to be the best, all fans will have to admit the majesty of this show when it goes down in history as one of the company’s best.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
The Mr. McMahon Element
John Cena vs. Big Show - Steel Cage Match
While this main event between Big Show and John Cena is nothing to most people, putting Vince McMahon here is a genius move. Add in the fact that this match has Johnny Ace’s job is on the line, and now people are starting to care.
Fans are missing the point here, though.
Not only do we care more about John Cena now than at any point over the last three years, Big Show is relevant and interesting for arguably the first time in his long wrestling career.
If given the proper time and a cool usage of the steel cage, this could be a main event that satisfies even the most fickle wrestling fans.
Prediction: Big Show wins
AJ and the Boys
WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Kane – Triple Threat Match
If you thought the main-event storyline was convoluted, you must not be watching the wild WWE title picture involving CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Kane and—most importantly—AJ.
While the infusion of Kane and AJ heavily into this championship match has been frowned upon by most fans in the Internet-wrestling community, the wild love story that we saw on Monday Night RAW makes this something casual fans can enjoy.
The technical savvy of Bryan and Punk will make this match an instant classic, but it will be Kane that shocks the world by pulling some of the cooler big-man moves out of the closet. Punk and Bryan will sell anything, so expect plenty of action from the big red monster.
As much as there is no clear winner coming out of this match right now, the only certainty is that AJ will somehow get involved and taint the finish. If she turns full heel and helps Daniel Bryan win, that would be a Punk at Money in the Bank type moment.
Prediction: Daniel Bryan wins with AJ’s help
Zig-Zag Finally Gets a Break
World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler is one of the best workers in the WWE, and just like Shawn Michaels in the early 90s, everyone wants to work with him because of his ability to sell.
That’s why when the WWE’s new Mr. Kennedy, Alberto del Rio, was removed from the heavyweight title match with a concussion, the WWE stuck Ziggler in the match. The company trusts him just like they did HBK.
While fans didn’t care much before, the love for Ziggler has everyone excited.
Win, lose or draw, Ziggler will be going against a guy in Sheamus that is over with the crowd like John Cena or CM Punk. Ziggler can cash his ticket to the big time with a serious showing in this match.
Prediction: Sheamus retains
An IC Match That Matters
Intercontinental Champion Christian vs. Cody Rhodes
While fans have complained about the lack of respect that the Intercontinental title gets, this is obviously one of the biggest matches in a long time.
Both Cody Rhoades and Christian are well over with the crowd and are two of the better workers in the company. If the WWE’s plan is to use Christian as a tool to help the young Rhodes get over better in the ring and as a heel, this is working to perfection.
Cody failed at his last major chance to be a star when he faced Randy Orton at Vengeance in 2011, but I always felt that it was Orton that dropped the ball in that match.
If Christian and Rhodes steal the show, it was RKO that botched Cody’s chance last year.
Prediction: Rhodes wins the IC title back
Triple H’s Appearance
With the lack of Triple H, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman on our televisions every week, many of the WWE fans have forgotten all about that storyline. The company will finally address the situation via the COO.
There are more questions than answers about where the WWE is heading with the Lesnar storyline, but this could be the start of the push to SummerSlam. That means a possible run-in by Lesnar.
The WWE has left this appearance very open-ended, so there is a fair amount of suspicion on what is going to happen. Either way, the fact that they are addressing Lesnar will have fans tuning in for the possibility of something crazy happening.
Prediction: Triple H talks trash and Lesnar jumps him
The Rest
With guys like Lord Tensai, Ryback and Antonio Cesaro not in any sanctioned matches, the WWE Universe must believe that these men will get some kind of chance to perform.
While it’s unclear which—if any—actually get a match on the PPV, there is no doubt that there is plenty of time to fill. Using at least one of these young stars to get the crowd excited is the right move.
Prediction: Above-average filler
