Manny Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradley: Why Rematch Would Spell Doom for Bradley
Timothy Bradley is ready and willing to face Manny Pacquiao in a supposed November 10 rematch, but it will only kill Bradley's undefeated record and prove once and for all that Pacquiao is deserving of the belt.
Pacquiao has been suffering through a lot in the last few years, not fighting up to his potential, nearly losing bouts in lethargic fashion and dealing with some personal problems. The world of boxing was pouncing all over Pacquiao before this fight and saying that his career may come to a close if he lost.
Instead, we saw a re-energized Pacquiao who dominated the ring for much of the fight against a very worthy opponent. Bradley may not be deserving of his most recent victory, but he's a heck of a fighter and one that will be around the biggest fights for many years.
He dazzled with his energy and passion, appearing to be running circles around Bradley and making you forget that he's 33 years old by the way he attacked and charged.
Right when boxing feared Pacquiao's departure form the sport, he showed us why we fell in love with him in the first place. He proved that he's still one of the most watchable athletes and can take on any task.
Instead of being rewarded for his rebound with a victory and the 55th win of his career, the judges made a fool of themselves by choosing Bradley via a split decision. They robbed one of boxing's greats and almost put to rest completely the possibility of a Floyd Mayweather matchup in the future.
Bradley has a lot to his game. His flurries are insane and his technique shines through. That said, he was beat handily by Pacquiao and it's hard to find anyone who disagrees (besides Bradley himself).
If the November 10 rematch ends up taking place, it will be a one-sided affair.
Besides, the main reason why most of the sports world wants to see a rematch is so the proper fighter can retain the crown. It would undoubtedly be a stellar fight and is one of the best Pacquiao could find regardless, but justice needs to be served.
Bradley will have to fight a much different fight if he wants any chance of keeping his undefeated streak alive. He can't expect to go out there and fight like he did Saturday night.
