Timothy Bradley: Desert Storm Is 1 Win Away from Floyd Mayweather
Whether you liked the results from Saturday night's fight or not, Timothy Bradley now finds himself in the favorable position of being one fight away from facing Floyd "Money" Mayweather.
After his questionable split-decision victory over Manny Pacquiao rocked the general public, there is little doubt that a rematch will ensue when the fighters resume training and the Nevada Athletic Commission deems them ready for competition.
When that occurs, he'll be another victory over Pacman away from facing the king of boxing and all the riches and glory that is Floyd Mayweather.
That's not to jump the gun, though. Another fight with Pacquiao will be no easy task. With the weight of the world calling for the rematch specifically because the judges decision didn't reflect the result of the fight, Bradley will enter as a heavy underdog.
But hey, he beat Pacquiao once, and say what you want about the judging, but this victory will always say Bradley on it at the end of the day.
That being said, it's not too early to look ahead past that rematch and what will happen should Bradley make it 2-0 in his career against Pacman.
Desert Storm versus Money Mayweather would draw one of the biggest paydays of all time. The guy that beat Manny Pacquiao twice (likely forcing him into retirement and on to politics full time) against the undefeated legend?
There isn't much more HBO could do to prep for that fight.
With all the hype that is sure to surround Timothy Bradley in the coming weeks, he would be wise not to look ahead or in the rearview mirror. His sole focus should be on beating Pacquiao again when the chance is given to him, and then worry about the rest when the time comes.
If he doesn't, I have a sneaking suspicion that the judges won't get the results wrong two fights in a row. Bradley put up a good fight and showed just how tough he really is. But if he wants to beat Pacman a second time, he'll either have to have the fight of his life or knock Manny out before the crowd mobs the floor on another split decision.
Mayweather-Bradley is in the works, now, people. It's actually closer than Pacquiao-Mayweather at this point. Don't count your chickens before they hatch, but it's Bradley time right now in Las Vegas.
