Pacquiao vs. Bradley Results: Why a Rematch Must Happen

Mike MoraitisJun 9, 2012

After Manny Pacquiao was robbed of a win by split decision against Timothy Bradley, a rematch is a must in order to restore some semblance of credibility back to the sport.

There's no way Pacman should have lost this fight. He dominated almost every round, from beginning to end, and never wavered a bit. It was Bradley who found himself stumbling across the ring as a result of hard Pacquiao left hands.

Analysts all over the spectrum had this fight going to Pacquiao. They and the rest of the living, breathing human beings who saw this fight agreed Pacman won.

It's safe to say the only people who think Bradley won is Bradley himself and the people in his corner.

And they might not even believe it.

Had the decision actually reflected the fight and had Pacquiao as the winner, no rematch would have been deserved. Bradley was overmatched and out-classed no matter what a few delusional judges might say.

But the fact that Pacman lost makes for a sure-fire re-do on this one. The sport simply can't live with this decision forever. Boxing must allow this to straighten itself out if they ever want to repair the wrongs done.

On top of that, as crazy as this sounds, Bradley's victory puts him in line to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. next. Anyone with half a clue about boxing knows that fight should never take place. Bradley deserves to be in the ring with every fighter not named Pacquiao or Mayweather.

The only fight that truly matters is Pacquiao versus Mayweather and everything else is irrelevant after that. And if it's true Bradley now stands in the way of a potential Mayweather Jr.-Pacquiao bout, that's even more of a reason to give Pacman a rematch.

Let's just hope the sport does the smart thing for once.
