Pacquiao vs. Bradley Results: Pac-Man Proves He Still Has It Despite Loss

Sam R. QuinnJun 9, 2012

Manny Pacquiao proved to the boxing world that he is still an extremely capable fighter despite his split-decision loss to Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley.

Bradley was ruled the winner, 115-113, 113-115, 115-113, in a stunning result that surprised even the ringside commentators.

Pacquiao dominated most of the fight, landing a serious amount of power punches to Bradley's head through the first five rounds. He let Bradley come toward him, and when he did, he picked him apart with ease.

It didn't even seem close, as Pacquiao was able to dictate the fight from the outset. He came out in Round 1 as the clear aggressor, forcing Bradley to retreat in a manner that we have seldom seen from the undefeated fighter. While Pacquiao was picking his punches and landing them flush, Bradley was wildly throwing combinations that didn't come close to landing.

A casual boxing fan would have been able to deduce that Pacquiao was the better fighter, simply by the way he meticulously stalked Bradley and landed his left hand over and over.

Bradley couldn't get out of the way of Manny's thunderous left hand that caused Bradley's body to jerk every time he landed it. Bradley, who has much less power, was hardly able to rattle Pacquiao at all.

The last minute of the first four rounds saw Pac-Man whaling away on his opponent, unleashing devastating combinations that were only stopped by the bell. This same trend replayed itself again for the next few rounds, and by the eighth, Bradley looked like a beaten man.

Defeat was written all over his face and it hardly looked like he wanted to drag himself out of the safety of his corner.

Seriously, it was easy to feel bad for a guy who looked like he was a lamb being sent to slaughter. He knew it. His corner man knew it. Everybody in the MGM Grand Arena knew that Pacquiao was going to win. Or at least they thought they did.

Round 10 was the only round that Bradley could have reasonably had a chance at winning. But even during those three minutes, Bradley did a lot more punching than landing.

During that round, Pacquiao was punching too, but he was catching his opponent in the face. Bradley looked dazed, or at least somewhat wobbly as Pacquiao showed no mercy at the end of the rounds.

Bradley learned his lesson from his earlier actions, which was to not go toe-to-toe with Pacquiao for an extended amount of time. That's why he looked so scared; he kept backing off of Pacquiao instead of trying to turn the fight into a slugfest like he usually does.

Despite all this, Pacquiao lost the fight. A lot of people expected this outcome, but they didn't expect the fight to end this way.

Although he lost, Manny Pacquiao proved to the world that he far from on the decline, and is a boxer to be reckoned with despite his age.
