Pacquiao vs. Bradley Round by Round: Pacquiao Sets Tone Early in Round 2

Ian HanfordJun 1, 2018

Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley both came out blazing in tonight's WBO welterweight contest.

Bradley opened the fight with the right strategy, but Pacman's superior ability shone through. His combination of speed, strength and technical savvy overpowered Bradley's jab-heavy diet.

Through the match's first two rounds, the two boxers each displayed their strengths.

Bradley's a strong technical fighter, but his 12 career knockouts speak to his raw power. Pacquiao's power is devastating, and documented, by his 38 career KOs.

Coming into the fight, Bradley knew he needed to keep Pacquiao on the perimeter. This would neutralize Pacquiao's deadly left hand and allow Bradley to pick his spots.

He made it work in the early portion of Round 1, but the buck stopped there.

Pacquiao took over once he realized Bradley's plan of attack. He started using his straight left hand to set up other punches.

Combination punching allowed Pacman to find his way to the interior of Bradley''s defense without sacrificing his defensive position.

Bradley, repeatedly, attempted a few combos of his own. Instead of taking the hit, Pacman kept his hands up and protected himself.

Bradley will have to land a few punches of his own if he wants to win this one. He doesn't possess Pacquiao's unbridled fists, but his sound technique makes up, at least, some of the difference.

All early indications point toward a Pacquiao victory tonight. He's older, more experienced and powerful enough to plant Bradley in any given second.

Pacman's 39th career knockout could be on the not-so-distant horizon.
