TNA Slammiversary X: Predicting 3 Title Matches, Aries vs. Samoa Joe and More
TNA Wrestling Presents their big 10th anniversary show, Slammiversary X, live on pay-per-view tonight!
Many people never would have thought that TNA would have survived their first few years, but here they are 10 years later going strong! Throughout their 10-year history, TNA has seen many memorable moments.
From Raven winning the NWA World Championship and Elix Skipper walking the cage to the debuts of Kurt Angle and Hulk Hogan, TNA has filled their 10 years with moment after moment.
Tonight, they look to make some more memorable ones with Slammiversary.
TNA has confirmed nine matches for this event, three of which are title matches, and they will be inducting the first member of the TNA Hall of Fame.
In terms of the Hall of Fame, I expect the inductee to be Jeff Jarrett, but with the company promising many surprises, it could be anyone.
With an overall strong-looking card, here is who I predict to win each match!
Hernandez vs. Kid Kash
1 of 9Well, this match literally came out of nowhere. While not all of the matches on the card have a lot of hype, this match has absolutely none.
At the same time, both wrestlers are TNA veterans so perhaps the company felt they should give them a match. I think there’s more to it than that.
TNA has been promising surprises in the advertising for this event. I think this match will feature at least one of those surprises.
I think that this match will see the return of one of their former tag-team partners. Hernandez is best known for his Latin American Xchange team with Homicide while Kash is a former tag team champion with Dallas, better known as Lance Hoyt.
TNA’s once great tag-team division is floundering due to the lack of teams in the company. Seeing at least one of these teams return would not only be a nice surprise, but also would be a step in the right direction for the division.
I think this match will see the return of Homicide, thus gaining Hernandez victory and reforming LAX.
Now, I could be totally wrong about this, and odds are I am. But I can dream, though, right?
Winner: Hernandez
Devon and Garett Bischoff vs. Robbie E and Robbie T
2 of 9At March’s Victory Road, Devon accepted an open challenge from Robbie E. The former Dudley boy won the Television Championship that night and has been a fighting champion ever since.
He has defended the title against all comers and has managed to keep his title every time. One of his opponents, Garett Bischoff, will now be joining forces with him to take on Robbie E and Robbie T.
Robbie E has yet to get over losing the title to Devon and has been getting in his business almost every week. It was during the Devon/Bischoff match that saw the Robbies cause a no-contest and the champion and his challenger join forces for the first time.
They took out the Jersey Shore wannabes and stood tall afterwards.
The Robbies interfered once again last week in a match that saw Devon defend the title against the fans' choice of Jeff Hardy. They were chased off once again, this time with Hardy by Devon’s side.
The champion has finally had enough and has chosen Bischoff to back him up.
This feud between the Robbies and Devon has really gone on for too long. It’s getting boring to see both of them constantly interfere or face Devon. The storyline just needs to end.
Garett Bischoff is a random addition to the match, especially since he hasn’t really done anything since April’s Lockdown.
A win by Devon and Bischoff should end this feud once and for all so I’m going with a victory for them.
Winners: Garett Bischoff and Devon
Crimson’s Open Challenge
3 of 9Crimson made his TNA debut in December 2010 and has since run over the competition in TNA. He has been undefeated for almost 500 days and is the self-proclaimed “Undefeated Hero” of the TNA fans.
This past Thursday after he defeated Austin Aries, Crimson issued an open challenge for Slammiversary. This match opens up a slew of possibilities.
You’ve got one of the many TNA wrestlers who aren’t on the card that could step up to the challenge, though I actually think that option isn’t likely to happen. Another one that crossed my mind is Matt Morgan popping up to try to break the streak one final time.
I don’t think that one is likely, either.
As he issued the open challenge he took a shot at Goldberg, so how about the former WCW world champion? Goldberg is probably the least likely of choices.
Joey Ryan comes to mind as well, as Taz told him to come back to prove himself. What better way than to attempt to break Crimson’s streak?
I think that the challenge will be answered by a former TNA talent. In the videos hyping the event, TNA has promised a lot of surprises and seeing someone return to accept the challenge would be a nice surprise.
According to reports, Christian will be present at Slammiversary. The rumors were only fueled more since he is no longer being advertised for this weekend’s WWE live events.
Could Christian Cage be the one to accept the challenge or is he there to be TNA’s first inductee into their Hall of Fame?
No matter who accepts it, I think his opponent will be a nice surprise. Either way, Crimson will be winning the match to keep his undefeated streak intact.
Winner: Crimson
Samoa Joe vs. Austin Aries: Non-Title Match
4 of 9This feud all started because Austin Aries accidentally sprayed Samoa Joe with water last week. This week, Joe confronted him about it and the situation resulted in the Samoan Submission Machine costing Aries a match against Crimson. This match was then booked.
The reasoning behind this match is very weak but the match itself will most likely be the Match of the Night. These two have battled before, over the ROH World Championship in 2004.
They put on a five-star showcase then and there’s no reason as to why they won’t do it again.
I really hope that this match isn’t a one-time thing as a feud between these two could really heat things up. Aries would have to lose the X-Division title, though.
Since there’s a weight limit, the feud couldn’t be over the title. Perhaps Joe could cost Aries the title as a way of continuing this after the PPV.
When it comes to the winner, Austin Aries is what’s hot right now. Samoa Joe isn’t the same as he was a few years ago, despite still being one of the best performers TNA has.
Aries will be winning this match, and hopefully Joe will be attacking him during his celebration.
Winner: Austin Aries
Rob Van Dam vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Mr. Anderson: No. 1 Contender's Match
5 of 9This past Thursday on Impact Wrestling, general manager Hulk Hogan announced that the world title would be on the line next week no matter the champion. He then booked this triple threat match to determine the No. 1 contender.
These three wrestlers have been in the main event picture a lot over the past year. Fans have mostly seen Jeff Hardy as this year alone he has received three or four title shots.
Rob Van Dam was the latest to fail at winning the title, with Bobby Roode defeating him at Sacrifice in a ladder match.
Mr. Anderson is the only of the three who is yet to get a shot at the title this year. It’s because of that I think he’ll be victorious here.
I would have liked to see someone who wasn’t a former WWE star in this match, but it’s not like they’re going to win the title anyway.
Winner and No. 1 Contender: Mr. Anderson
Bully Ray vs. Joseph Park
6 of 9Last year, Bully Ray and Abyss were involved in an intense feud. It began with Bully Ray abusing his fellow Immortal member Abyss both physically and mentally.
Abyss finally had enough and turned on Immortal, and without Hulk Hogan in the stable anymore, the group was looking weak. Eric Bischoff wanted Bully Ray to bring Abyss back and it resulted in a Monster’s Ball match at Genesis in January.
Abyss won the match but was taken to such a limit that he disappeared from TNA afterwards.
Enter Joseph Park in March. Park claimed to be Abyss’ brother and started asking questions about his disappearance. He was eventually led to Bully Ray, who denied any involvement.
Park kept pushing, though, much to the dismay of Bully Ray. Over the past couple of weeks, the bully has been calling Park out for confrontations in the ring. They usually resulted in Bully Ray insulting the lawyer and ultimately attacking him.
Despite the abuse, Park wouldn’t back down and he got his answer last week. Bully Ray told Park that he was guilty of leaving Abyss for dead and that sent Park over the edge. He grabbed the bully and challenged him to a fight.
This past Thursday, the two men got quite the surprise during their contract signing. Abyss returned on the screen and declared that he’d be returning at the PPV.
This has been one of the overall best storylines TNA Wrestling has had in a long time. Bully Ray is one of the best heels in the business today. His mic work is sometimes untouchable and his actions in the ring are great.
The man knows how to anger a crowd! This heel turn is the best thing to happen to him in years.
Joseph Park has really helped this storyline along really well by playing the victim. For someone who is bigger than Bully Ray, Park is scared to death of him.
The role of the bullied is being played perfectly.
As for the winner, it’s hard to say. If Bully Ray is just facing Joe Park then he’ll definitely be winning this. If he’s facing Abyss, though, then Park will be victorious.
I am very interested to see how TNA is going to handle this situation. With Joe Park wrestling in the ring, how will Abyss make his return?
My guess is that Park will put on Abyss’ mask mid-way through and go berserk.
Winner: Joseph Park
Gail Kim vs. Miss Tessmacher: Knockouts Championship
7 of 9Gail Kim is currently the longest reigning Knockouts champion in the history of the title. She has been one of the most dominate Knockouts the division has ever seen as well.
Gail has taken on all challengers since winning the title in November and has beaten just about every other woman on the roster.
Her latest title defense was at last month’s Sacrifice when she went one-on-one with Miss Tessmacher, who put up a good fight but wasn’t able to take down the veteran wrestler.
The champion just rested after that, wrestling only one time on Open Fight Night in a winning effort against ODB and Eric Young in a non-title match. With Slammiversary fast approaching, Gail needed a challenger for the event.
The new executive in charge of the Knockouts, Brooke Hogan, made a fatal four-way match this past Thursday featuring Velvet Sky, Mickie James, Tara and Miss Tessmacher. It was quite the good match and it resulted in Tessmacher gaining one more shot at the gold.
Gail is probably one of the best wrestlers in the Knockouts division and she proves that every time she’s in the ring.
Tessmacher isn’t the best of wrestlers, but she has improved a whole heck of a lot since her days in Extreme Exposé during her stint with WWE.
With this PPV being in her home state, I think a victory for her is on the books. It’s time for some new blood to hold the title anyway and Tessmacher is the perfect candidate.
Winner and New Champion: Miss Tessmacher
Christopher Daniels and Kazarian vs. A.J. Styles and Kurt Angle: Tag Team Titles
8 of 9At last year’s Destination X, best friends A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels returned to the X-Division for one night only and went up against each other. Styles won the match and jealousy grew inside Daniels as a result.
They became enemies once again, trading victories until it seemed to end in November. Things picked right back up in December, though, when Daniels got Kazarian to turn on Styles.
Now with Kaz by his side, Daniels continued his feud with his former best friend. For the next six months, Styles waged war with his former Fortune mates. Things took a new turn when Kaz revealed that he sided with Daniels to keep him from revealing a secret about Styles.
That secret ended up being a possible affair with TNA president Dixie Carter. Daniels and Kaz soon won the Tag Team Championship but their sights remained focus on A.J. Styles.
During this, though, they may have messed with the wrong person. To screw with Styles, they cost him a match against Kurt Angle. Angle wasn’t too happy about getting help and the soon to be champions got on his bad side.
With no backup, Angle joined Styles in his fight against them.
Just looking at this match on paper you know that it’s going to be a candidate for Match of the Night. The four wrestlers in the ring are four of the best in TNA and they have proven many times in the past that they can work well together.
The big factor in this match is going to be A.J. Styles.
Angle’s head is going to be completely in the game but the same can’t be said for Styles. This past Thursday, Dixie’s husband Serge punched him in the head and it resulted in Styles leaving the Impact Zone. He missed the majority of his match as a result.
Styles’ head is not in the game and his focus is not on the titles. He’s going to want revenge on Daniels and Kazarian and that could be the downfall of his team.
At the same time, this is A.J. Styles we’re talking about. He very well could know that the best revenge would be taking the titles away from them.
I don’t think he’ll see it that way, though. As much as I would like to see this dream team of Styles and Angle win, I think this match will go to the champions.
Winners and Still Champions: Christopher Daniels and Kazarian
Bobby Roode vs. Sting: TNA World Championship
9 of 9Bobby Roode and Sting have been at each other’s throats since November. When Roode won the World Heavyweight Championship by cheating, the situation didn’t sit too well with then-general manager Sting.
For months, the Icon would stack the deck against Roode in an attempt to not only take the title off of him, but to shut him up as well.
No matter the obstacle, though, the world champion would find a way around it and remain the top guy in TNA Wrestling. Sting finally had enough come March and he challenged Roode to a non-title match at Victory Road.
It was a hard-fought battle, but Roode won the match. Afterwards, Sting realized that the role of general manager didn’t suit him because he was a wrestler. He stepped down and gave the reins to Hulk Hogan. The Insane Icon then disappeared.
Hogan then tried to do what Sting did, which was stack the deck against Roode. Every time the champion would find a way to be victorious, though.
Two weeks ago, Roode became the longest reigning world champion in TNA history and the Hulkster had a present for him. Sting made his return to TNA and attacked Roode.
Last week, they went one-on-one on TNA’s first live show and it ended with Roode tapping out to the Scorpion Death Lock. This past Thursday in a six-man tag match, Sting made Roode tap out once again.
Bobby Roode is looking weak right now but I think that’s the right move. It’s smart booking to have Sting be the aggressor in this feud. That way, when Roode defeats him at Slammiversary, his win will be that much bigger.
Booking Sting to look really strong heading into the match only to have him lose will make Roode the overall stronger performer and the better man. The deck would once again be stacked against him, but Roode will be able to knock it down once again.
In other words, I think Roode will be winning this match. Having Sting win the title now would be a mistake.
I have no doubts that Sting will be world champion at least one more time, but I just don’t think he’s the right person to end Roode’s reign. That spot should be reserved for James Storm.
Winner and Still Champion: Bobby Roode
