Spain vs. Italy, June 10th, 12:00 p.m. ET
This clash of styles should be fun.
Spain has some of the most talented players in the world and has incredible midfield options with Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez, Sergio Busquets, Xabi Alonso, Cesc Fabregas, Juan Mata and David Silva all dangerous on the wing.
It's truly a spoil of riches, and Italy's coach Cesare Prandelli has considered moving to a 3-5-2 to counter the Spanish stars in the midfield.
Spain will look to dominate possession and keep the pressure high on Italy.
For the Italians, clogging up the midfield and playing sound defense will be the key to this match. If they can do that, they should have opportunities to strike on the counter-attack, where Mario Balotelli and Antonio Cassano could be dangerous.
It's a task easier said than done, though Italy traditionally plays very well against Spain. Still, this Spanish side has too much talent, and I'd expect them to escape with a 1-0 win.
France vs. England, June 11th, 12:00 p.m. ET
No team has been saddled with more injuries than England, and Wayne Rooney will miss the first two matches of this tournament.
England still has talent, but I don't think they'll get past this French squad, unbeaten in 21 straight international matches.
With Karim Benzema, Franck Ribery, Samir Nasri and Hatem Ben Arfa all very capable attackers, I would expect to see England on its heels for much of this game. While it will ultimately be closer than the score suggests, I see France taking this one, 2-0.
Germany vs. Netherlands, June 13th, 2:45 p.m.
It's a clash between two of the finest teams in the world, and the Netherlands will seriously want a win after dropping to Denmark in the opener.
The talent on both sides is stunning. The Netherlands are frightening on the attack, with Wesley Sneijder as a central attacking mid, the ever-crafty Arjen Robben on the wing and two premier options at striker in Robin van Persie and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
But Germany doesn't lack for talent either. Toni Kroos and Mesut Ozil are magicians in the midfield, Lukas Podolski and Thomas Mueller pressure from the wings and Germany has its own pair of deadly strikers in Mario Gomez and Miroslav Klose.
And Germany is stronger defensively than the Dutch.
I don't think Holland will go a second game without scoring, but I doubt they'll keep a clean sheet once at this tournament. Look for this one to finish as a 1-1 tie.
