WWE SmackDown Preview: Sheamus/Del Rio, A.J.'s New Affection, Ryback and More
It’s Friday again and that means a new episode of Friday Night SmackDown!
WWE’s Friday night show has been the better show for the past couple of weeks now, and there’s no sign of that stopping.
While the company hasn’t confirmed anything for this week’s show as of this writing, there are some things to consider.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Saving the Masses: What’s Next for Damien Sandow
Since April, Damien Sandow has been pushing his virtues onto the WWE Universe. He declared that he needed to save us from society and that he’d do that with his words as well as his actions in the ring.
His first match was scheduled to be against Derrick Bateman in May, but he denounced his opponent saying that we wouldn’t learn anything from him facing Bateman.
Sandow has since done the same thing to two other opponents, only they got him into the match.
Yoshi Tatsu called him a chicken while Ezekiel Jackson literally tossed Sandow into the ring. Both times, though, Sandow would destroy his opponents.
What have we learned so far? Will Damien Sandow continue to squash opponents for our benefit?
Pure Destruction: Who Will Get in Ryback’s Way This Week?
Ryback made his debut in April and has left a trail of bodies behind him ever since. Every week, a local wrestler would be given a golden opportunity with a match on SmackDown.
Unfortunately for them, their opportunity was against the monstrous Ryback. In no more than two minutes, Ryback would squash these guys and leave them all but dead.
He soon moved up to facing two guys at a time, proving his dominance even more than before.
He made his Raw debut this past Monday and continued to destroy those who go in his way.
Which unfortunate souls will be fed to Ryback this week on SmackDown? Could this be the day Ryback is finally defeated?
A Rampaging Giant: Will the Big Show Make an Appearance?
At Over the Limit, the Big Show shocked no one when he attacked John Cena. The next night on Raw, he declared that he hated the WWE Universe because they didn’t care that he was fired the week before.
Since he now had an iron clad contract, he no longer cared as well. He then went on a rampage.
Within a few weeks, the World’s Largest Athlete took out John Cena, Brodus Clay, the tag team champions, the United States champion and Zack Ryder.
There seemed to be no stopping him, but with Cena’s return this past Monday, the destruction stopped. Big Show was nowhere to be seen, so the superstars of Raw were given a pass for one night.
What about the superstars of SmackDown, though? Will the Big Show’s reign of terror pick back up on the blue brand?
Crazy Meets Crazy: How Will A.J.’s New Found Affections Effect Kane?
A.J. spent a good portion of last year following Daniel Bryan around like a puppy. They eventually got together and A.J. fell in love with the then-world champion. Everything changed after WrestleMania XXVIII, though.
After a good-luck kiss between Bryan and A.J., Sheamus kicked Bryan’s head off to win the World title at WrestleMania. Bryan then dumped her, a move she kept on trying to reverse.
As soon as the Daniel Bryan/CM Punk feud started, she shifted her affections from him to the WWE champion.
She started to follow Punk around and saw a ray of hope when he declared, “I like crazy chicks.” This past Monday on Raw, A.J.’s focus seems to have shifted again.
After Kane took out both Bryan and Punk, his target became A.J. While scared at first, she soon smiled at him, a move that confused the Devil’s Favorite Demon.
With his focus on the WWE Championship, how will this effect Kane? Is A.J. just playing mind games to affect his chances of taking the title from CM Punk?
A Wounded Great White: Will Sheamus Be Looking for Revenge on Alberto Del Rio?
Since Alberto Del Rio became the No. 1 contender, he and Sheamus have had minimal contact. They have met a few times in the ring, but it was only on the mic.
The most interaction they have had physically was attacking each other from behind. Sheamus did it when Del Rio became the No. 1 contender while Del Rio did it this past Monday.
Del Rio took it a step further, though.
Not only did he hit the champion from behind, he stomped a mudhole in him and applied his cross armbreaker while the champion was hanging off the stage.
Sheamus is no doubt wounded after that, but an injured Great White may be the most dangerous.
Will Sheamus gain some revenge this week? Can Alberto Del Rio keep the momentum going with another attack?
Despite nothing concrete being confirmed for the show, SmackDown could very well keep its momentum going this week.
Will it be able to do that? Tune in to find out!
