Kings vs. Devils: Game 5 TV Schedule, Live Stream and More for Stanley Cup Final

Tim DanielsJun 7, 2018

The New Jersey Devils were able to keep their comeback hopes alive with a victory in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final. Even though the Los Angeles Kings remain heavy favorites to skate away with the coveted trophy, the Devils proved they will have to earn it.

After scoring just two goals over the first three games, New Jersey was finally able to find some offensive punch on Wednesday night. Patrik Elias, Adam Henrique and Ilya Kovalchuk scored in the third period en route to a 3-1 triumph.

Now, the Devils return home with a chance to make the series even more interesting with another win, but it won't be easy. The Kings haven't lost a single road game during their surprising playoff run and have closed out two series in Game 5 road contests.

What They're Saying

Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times passed along some thoughts from Kings players after their first loss of the series, and they had a common theme. Jarret Stoll summed it up best:

"

It's disappointing losing the game. But it's definitely not going to be easy. It's a damn tough trophy to win and they're a darn good team.

To win two, three, especially four in a row in the playoffs is very tough. Especially against a team of that caliber.

"

Martin Brodeur has been through enough postseasons to understand all the Devils can do now is make life as difficult as possible for the Kings. The veteran goalie said as much after the win, according to Steve Politi of the Star-Ledger:

"

We wanted to make them jump on a plane and go to New Jersey. We had to go anyway, so we might as well play a game. We’ll try to make it a miserable trip for them again.

"

Most Important Player to Watch: Adam Henrique

While Henrique still serves as a supporting cast member for the Devils, his play throughout the playoffs has been a good indication he'll become a lot more than that in the coming years. He has 12 points and a team-high plus-10 rating during New Jersey's run.

None of those points have been more important than his goal with under five minutes left in Game 4, which gave the Devils a lead they didn't surrender. He was also great in the faceoff circle. Even though he played less than 17 minutes, no player had a bigger impact on the outcome.

If New Jersey is going to mount one of the greatest comebacks ever, Henrique must continue to play like a star. With the Kings focused on stopping Ilya Kovalchuk and Zach Parise, it's up to role players like the 22-year-old center to pick up the slack. He's certainly capable.

Key Matchup: Jonathan Quick vs. Martin Brodeur

Goaltending was the biggest story heading into the series, and neither netminder has disappointed. Quick has emerged as one of the sport's most promising young players, and Brodeur has raised his game to an elite level, knowing full well his window for winning another title is closing quickly.

The Kings have had several players step up in the playoffs, but the team wouldn't be in its current position without Quick. He has an eye-popping 1.39 goals-against average and has stopped nearly 95 percent of the shots sent his way.

Even though this series is just the beginning for Quick, it might be Brodeur's last Stanley Cup stand. At 40, he's had a tremendous career, but he won't be able to play forever. He'll need to put the Devils on his back, like he's done so often in the past, to get them out of this deep hole.
