TNA Impact Wrestling Preview: A Big Six-Man Tag, the Knockouts and More

Kyle SchadlerJun 7, 2018

It’s Thursday again, and that means a new episode of TNA Impact Wrestling!

Last week, TNA went live at a new start time. They delivered quite the show from start to finish, as they began the summer with a bang.

This week, TNA remains live, as they have confirmed two matches as well as two segments for this go-home episode before Slammiversary.

Let’s see what TNA Wrestling has in store for the fans this week!

A Bully vs. a Lawyer: Bully Ray and Joseph Park Make Their Match Official

Late last year, Bully Ray and Abyss were involved in a heated feud. It culminated in January at Genesis when they went at it in a Monster’s Ball match.

While Abyss was victorious, Bully Ray took him to a limit he had never been taken before, and he disappeared from TNA.

In March, a man calling himself Abyss’ brother showed up asking questions. Joseph Park started asking TNA wrestlers about the disappearance of Abyss and he was eventually led to Bully Ray. The bully denied any involvement, but Park kept on pushing.

As he got closer to the truth, Abyss made his return just before Lockdown in April. He simply told his brother, “You’re getting too close to the fire. Back off before you get burned!” Abyss then disappeared once again.

That didn’t stop Park, and last week, Bully Ray admitted to leaving Abyss for dead after Genesis. Park then challenged him to a fight and the bully said they’d fight at Slammiversary.

This week, the match is made official with a contract signing.

What will happen as they put pen to paper? Since Joseph Park is a lawyer, does he have a few surprises in store for Bully Ray?

A Fatal Four-Way Knockouts Match to Determine the No. 1 Contender

Gail Kim has been one of the most dominate Knockouts champions in TNA’s history. In fact, she is currently the longest-reigning champion the title has seen since its inception in 2007. She has taken on all comers and has just about beaten every other Knockout in the division.

There’s a new sheriff in town, though. Last week, Brooke Hogan made her TNA debut as the new executive in charge of the Knockouts division. She didn’t make any decisions, and it resulted in the Knockouts not getting featured in a match.

She has finally been able to make a decision, as a fatal four-way has been booked to determine Gail Kim’s challenger for Slammiversary.

As of this writing, though, none of those four competitors have been revealed.

With 10 Knockouts on the roster, which four will get the opportunity? Will this match see the debut of a new Knockout, or possibly even the return of a former one?

A Scandalous Situation: Dixie Carter to Address Her and A.J. Styles

A.J. Styles has been the face of TNA since day one. Even though many big names like Kurt Angle and Hulk Hogan have come to TNA, Styles has always been front and center.

He achieved instant success when he became the first ever TNA X-Division champion in 2002, and he soon became TNA’s most decorated wrestler.

Fast forward 10 years to 2012 and Styles is a six-time X-Division champion, a two-time television champion, five-time tag team champion and a four-time world heavyweight champion.

His success has been brought into question now, though.

Styles’ long feud with Christopher Daniels took a new turn when Daniels and Kazarian revealed photos and video of him with TNA president Dixie Carter. Just friends being friendly, right?

Last week, Daniels and Kazarian revealed a telephone call between Styles and Dixie and it resulted in the company president ordering the feed to the show be cut.

Dixie can no longer ignore this situation and she will address it this week.

What will Dixie Carter have to say? Will A.J. Styles be by her side? Do Christopher Daniels and Kazarian have more evidence to show the fans?

Sting, A.J. Styles and Kurt Angle vs. Bobby Roode, Christopher Daniels and Kazarian

The main event for this go-home episode before Slammiversary will be a big six-man tag-team match featuring two of the top matches at the pay-per-view.

A.J. Styles has been feuding with Christopher Daniels for almost a year now, and Kazarian entered the fold in December. The three have battled it out for the past six months with no sign of it stopping.

Kurt Angle entered into the feud after Daniels and Kazarian simply got on his nerves and he attacked them. A dream team was then formed, as Styles and Angle will be challenging the tag team champions Daniels and Kazarian for the titles at Slammiversary.

Bobby Roode and Sting have been at each other’s throats since Roode won the title in November and Sting was the general manager. No matter the obstacle Sting put in front of him, Roode would find a way around it and remain the champion.

Sting finally had enough come March, and the two faced off at Victory Road. Roode won the match and Sting stepped down as general manager as a result.

The Icon disappeared after that but returned two weeks ago as a surprise to Roode, who had just become the longest-reigning world champion in TNA history.

Last week, Sting defeated the champion in a non-title match, and the world title match for Slammiversary was booked.

What will happen as these six combustible elements enter the ring? Who will gain the momentum heading into Slammiversary?

With Slammiversary this Sunday, also expect the rest of the card to be filled out with appearances by the likes of Austin Aries, Jeff Hardy, Mr. Anderson and more.

How will the final build to Slammiversary affect the show? Tune in at 8 p.m. to find out!
