ESPN 150: Georgia and South Carolina Commitments Among Big Movers for SEC
Recruiting season never stops. That was further proven on Wednesday when ESPN released its second version of the ESPN 150 for the Class of 2013.
The names atop the list shouldn't surprise you. Grayson (Ga.) High School defensive end Robert Nkemdiche is still atop the list, with Auburn (Ala.) High School linebacker Reuben Foster behind him.
Verbal commitments to the Georgia Bulldogs and South Carolina Gamecocks were among the big movers on this updated list.
Shaq Wiggins Jumps From 86 to 35
Wiggins is a 5'9", 160-pound cornerback who has been committed to the Georgia Bulldogs since early February. Don't let the size fool you, he is a solid cover corner who has good field awareness.
Georgia has some depth issues at cornerback this year, so he's stepping into a good situation when he arrives on campus in 2013. There should be some playing time up for grabs.
Jumping from 86 to 35 is a big move for Wiggins. If Georgia fans weren't excited about his impending arrival in Athens before the new ESPN 150 was released, they should be now.
Matt Rolin Jumps From 104 to 79
Rolin is a 6'4", 210-pound linebacker from Ashburn, Va. who committed to the Gamecocks late in May. He's a lighting-quick outside linebacker who can grow into that position at the collegiate level.
Steve Spurrier may be known as an offensive guru, but his defenses have finished in the top 15 in total defense in three of the last five years. Lorenzo Ward has been on that staff with the defensive coordinator title since 2009, so the loss of Ellis Johnson won't make a major impact—and that should benefit Rolin once he arrives in Columbia.
Auburn Has Two Defensive Linemen in the Top 10
Auburn's defensive line should be just fine starting in 2013.
The Tigers have two defensive linemen in the top 10: defensive end Carl Lawson (No. 5) out of Milton High School in Milton, Ga. and defensive tackle Dee Liner (No. 8) out of Muscle Shoals (Ala.) High School.
Lawson and Liner will get their chance to play early on The Plains.
Defensive ends Corey Lemonier and Nosa Eguae are both juniors in 2012, and there's a good chance that Lemonier could go pro following his junior season. Even if he doesn't, Lawson should find his way into the defensive end rotation as a freshman.
The same can be said for Liner, who will be battling seniors Jeff Whitaker and Ken Carter, as well as juniors Gabe Wright and Angelo Blackson, when he arrives on campus in 2013.
