What Landing 4-Star WR Ricky Seals-Jones Would Mean for LSU and Texas A&M
Last night, a Texas recruit rattled the recruiting world with news that he is looking elsewhere.
Ricky Seals-Jones, the nation's No. 33 overall player and the No. 3 athlete in the country according to 247Sports.com, opened his recruitment back up. The 6'5", 225-pound wide receiver had been committed to play for Mack Brown and the Texas Longhorns in 2013.
His reason is simple. According to ESPN.com, Seals-Jones wants to play basketball and football, which is something that LSU and Baylor have promised to let him attempt. Texas is still on his radar, but the news opens the door for two SEC schools that are high on Seals-Jones' list—LSU and Texas A&M—according to Greg Powers of FoxSports.com/Scout.com:
"Ricky Seals-Jones has de-committed from #Texas. #LSU, #TAMU, #Baylor mentioned now as schools he can hoop at as well as play football.

What would his commitment mean to those schools?
LSU Tigers
If Seals-Jones found his way to Baton Rouge, it would be huge news for the Tigers.
Russell Shepard is gone after this season, and it's not like he has set the world on fire as a wide receiver. Odell Beckham Jr. had a nice freshman season, but he's still a work in progress. We will know more about him once we see him with a real quarterback—namely, Zach Mettenberger. Jarvis Landry only caught four passes as freshman in 2011, but he is supposed to be a big-time factor this year in place of Rueben Randle.
For Seals-Jones, the above paragraph should translate to one word.
Opportunity.
Opportunity for early playing time, opportunity for big-time exposure in the nation's best conference and opportunity for national championships—plural.
He would have the chance to, presumably, have one year with senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger before Mettenberger moves on and makes way for class of 2013 recruit Hayden Rettig.
That would be a pretty solid foundation for the Tigers. The passing game has been a sore spot in Baton Rouge ever since Ryan Perrilloux was dismissed before the 2008 season. However, the Mettenberger/Seals-Jones combo could get the ball rolling through the better part of a decade.
Texas A&M
New head coach Kevin Sumlin and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury are bringing their Air Raid offense to College Station in 2012, and Seals-Jones would be able step in and be a contributor right away.
The Air Raid offense is built on spreading the ball around, and if Seals-Jones were to go to Texas A&M, he would join 6'7" monster Derrick Griffin on the outside.
Can you imagine the options Kingsbury and Sumlin would have with both Griffin and Seals-Jones on the outside?
The Aggies would be another great fit for Seals-Jones. They may not be contenders like LSU, but they still have access to the SEC's stage and have the system that can make him a household name early in 2013.
