Devils vs. Kings: Game 3 Highlights, Twitter Reaction and Analysis

Tom Urtz Jr.Jun 3, 2018

The Los Angeles Kings played Game 3 like it was a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Final and absolutely dominated the New Jersey Devils. Jonathan Quick was once again phenomenal, and the Kings' offense emerged in droves. Players like Justin Williams capitalized on their own rebounds, Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown connected on a goal, and the Kings decimated the Devils' defense.

Justin Williams had a strong game as well for the Kings and got on the board with a goal after capitalizing on his own rebound.

Quick was sensational as always, not only earning the Kings a win but also notching his third shutout of the playoffs. This game was brutal for the Devils, and it looks like the Kings have completely sucked the life out of their team.

Los Angeles looked hungry and motivated throughout the night despite their dominating lead, and all signs are pointing to a Kings sweep of the 2012 Stanley Cup Final.

Tweets of the Night

The Devils looked so out of sync in Game 3, Yahoo! Sports' Puck Daddy blog editor and Devils faithful Greg Wyshynski even knew the inevitable was coming for Game 4:

"

This tweet from ESPN's Steve Levy really hurts the die-hard Blueshirt fans watching the Stanley Cup:

"

Rangers fans must be watching and wondering how these devils beat them. NJ just can't score. Its not all jonathan quick

— Steve Levy (@espnSteveLevy) June 4, 2012"

This tweet sums up the game in less than 140 characters:

"

Devils dump it in, lose a puck battle, Kings dump it out, Devils dump it in, lose a puck battle, Kings dump it out, Devils dump it...

— Jason Brough (@JasonPHT) June 4, 2012"

Must-See Highlight

This goal was just a work of art. Anze Kopitar, Justin Williams and Dustin Brown all came together and were in sync on this tic-tac-toe goal.

Player of the Game: Jonathan Quick

Quick made multiple key saves for the Kings throughout the game. He kept LA's 4-0 lead intact and stood tall during the Devils' 5-on-3 power play. Quick earned his third shutout of the playoffs and his 15th win.

If the Kings complete the sweep in Game 4, it is all but guaranteed that Quick will hoist the Conn Smythe Trophy in addition to Lord Stanley's Cup.

What's Next?

Game 4 will take place at the Staples Center on Wednesday, June 6, at 8:00 p.m. ET. If the Kings win, they will be the 2011-12 Stanley Cup champions, and the first in franchise history.

The New Jersey Devils will need a win to stay alive and face a potential Game 5 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
