2013 College Football Recruiting: 10 Future Dynamic Duos
Montana and Rice. Jordan and Pippen. Mantle and Maris.
Duos have long been a part of professional sports, and college football is no exception.
For this read, I'm going to recognize 10 future dynamic duos in college football that are shaping up within the 2013 recruiting class.
Batman and Robin was a good one too.
10. Sickels and Webb at Penn State
1 of 10Penn State has a chance to vastly upgrade its defensive line this class, as both DE Greg Sickels and DE Greg Webb are committed to playing in Happy Valley.
Sickels and his 6'4", 245-pound frame will undoubtedly form a formidable duo Greg Webb and his 6'2", 290-pound frame. With his strength, Webb will command double teams that will free up Sickels on the edges. Sickles, in turn, will force runners back inside from the outside, and Webb will swallow them up.
9. Smith and Shallman at Michigan
2 of 10Michigan is moving toward a more traditional offense under offensive coordinator Al Borges, and finding a willing fullback is key.
Fortunately for the Wolverines, Wyatt Shallman has offered his services and he represents the top FB prospect in the land. A 6'2", 245-pound lead blocker is a running back's best friend, and DeVeon Smith is a 5'11", 210-pound RB that will likely be in the 225-pound range during his Michigan tenure.
Imagine yourself as a linebacker having to take on Shallman in a hole, with the thick-framed Smith coming downhill behind him?
Ouch.
8. Liner and Lawson at Auburn
3 of 10Carl Lawson is going to be a terror on The Plains, as the 6'2", 255-pounder is just scratching the surface of how good he can be. An athletic DE, Lawson has a good motor upfield and solid strength to combat the run.
Dee Liner is already 6'4", 270 lbs. and can play both DT and DE. Athletic for a big man, Liner is great in pursuit.
Look for these two to anchor the Auburn defensive line in a few seasons.
7. Bateman to Stewart/Howard at Alabama
4 of 10Cooper Bateman might have the strongest arm in the country this year and could be humming the ball for the Tide by his sophomore year.
O.J. Howard is an athletic 6'5", 225-pound tight end prospect that, if left on offense, should grow into a great receiving seam player. ArDarius Stewart can flat out fly at wide receiver and stands at 6'1".
'Bama is slowly starting to realize they need to open up the passing game, and these three could be the reason they bust it open.
6. Tyner and Wilson at Oregon
5 of 10The Ducks recruit speed, speed and more speed. Tyner is perhaps the fastest player in the country and also stands at 6'0", 207 lbs.
Wilson is a 5'10", 180-pounder that also can run with the best of them.
Just imagine what Chip Kelly is going to do with having two speed burners in his backfield. Look for these two to make a great 1-2 punch in the passing and return games too.
5. Hackenburg to Breneman at Penn State
6 of 10The Nittany Lions are in store for a great future offensive duo in this class as well.
Quarterback Christian Hackenburg, who stands at 6'4'', 215 lbs., has all the tools needed to be a top-flight starter in college.
He will be throwing to Adam Breneman, who stands at 6'5", 225 lbs., one of the nation's top tight end prospect with natural receiving skills.
With Bill O'Brien known for using tight ends as the focal point of his offense, look for this duo to be dynamic.
4. Bryant and Ford at Oklahoma
7 of 10If you have a system that requires two backs that run hard, physical, downhill and instinctively, then you probably envy Oklahoma right now.
The Sooners have commitments from Keith Ford, a 5'11", 200-pound runner with excellent vision and Greg Bryant, a 5'11", 200-pounder that attacks downhill.
Combined, they are going to wear Big 12 defenses down in Norman and carry Bob Stoops' squad to a lot of wins.
3. Swoopes to Seals-Jones at Texas
8 of 10Texas managed to snatch up both Tyrone Swoopes, a 6'4", 220-pound dual threat QB, and Ricky Seals-Jones, a 6'5", 215-pound wide receiver prospect.
Both need to be coached up a bit, but their athleticism and play-making ability will get them on the field. Swoopes has a big frame, great speed and a strong arm.
That arm will complete passes to Seals-Jones, whether he ends up at wide receiver or switches over to tight end.
2. Isaac and Davis at USC
9 of 10USC needed to get a pair of great runners in this class, and they did just that in the month of May.
Ty Isaac is a 6'2", 220-pounder with outstanding speed and receiving ability. He is a very dynamic player that can effect the game in several ways.
Justin Davis is a 6'0", 200-pounder that can work between the tackles while also eluding defenders in space.
Having Davis bang inside while Isaac works the edges and catches out of the backfield will be a great combination for the Trojans.
1. Burrows and Woodard at Ohio State
10 of 10Having one great cornerback can be a great advantage for a secondary, but having two really makes a back end formidable.
Ohio State has the potential to have that type of one-two punch after landing two great CB's in Cameron Burrows and Eli Woodard.
Burrows is the bigger of the two at 6'2", 195 lbs., while Woodard comes in at 6'1", 185 lbs. Both have an outstanding chance to be elite cover corners and in a few seasons they could both be starting for Urban Meyer.
Who's side are you throwing on?
