Chelsea Will Be Incredible After Transfers of Hulk and Eden Hazard
Chelsea is stacked.
The Blues were riding high going into the summer after defeating Bayern Munich in the 2012 UEFA Champions League title. After stunning success during the transfer window, though, they should continue to soar.
With Didier Drogba’s contract scheduled to expire this offseason, Chelsea knew that they’d be forced to make bold moves to stay on top. Bold, though, is an understatement for what the Blues have accomplished, thus far.

They competed with powerhouses Manchester United and Manchester City for the services of 21-year-old superstar goal scorer Eden Hazard. Going up against that pair of juggernauts, the Blues were counted out early by many observers.
But Hazard shocked the football world with this tweet:
"I'm signing for the champion's league winner.
— Eden hazard (@hazardeden10) May 28, 2012"
But Chelsea refused to harp on their victory—they weren’t finished yet.
This past week, David Hytner of The Guardian reported that the Blues reached an agreement with the Brazilian striker Hulk for £38m. Nothing is official yet, but the acquisition of yet another all-world footballer should have Chelsea’s opponents shaking in their cleats.
Each player has already proven his worth in recent international competition. Hazard put a dent in the scoreboard with a goal against Montenegro and made his presence felt in a loss against England. In a story reported by Jason Burt of The Telegraph, former Lille teammate Joe Cole gave Hazard a ringing endorsement:
“Hazard is different class. He’s still only 21 and has definitely got another few gears to go up. He’s got the same attitude as Wayne Rooney at that age—he’s fearless. He knows how good he is.”
Hulk’s play for Brazil has been even more impressive. He scored two goals in a 3-1 Brazilian triumph over Denmark, before he helped them thrash the Team USA 4-1.
Hazard and Hulk, combined with Chelsea’s already-talented core, will prove to be an incredible hazard for the Blues opponents next season.
