ARCA Re/Max Field Set for Slick Mist 200
As qualifying ended for the ARCA Re/Max kick-off event, the first-ever Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell was awarded to ESRs Justin Lofton.
Lofton circled the high banked 2.5 mile Daytona International Speedway at 182.120 mph with a lap time of 49.418.
Starting alongside Lofton on the front row will be Florida native Alli Owens.
The Home Depot Toyota of Joey "Sliced-Bread" Logano will roll off third, while another Toyota driven by Michael Annett will start fourth.
On the inside of row three is the Toyota of Brian Scott. Next to Scott is the first non-Toyota with five-time Daytona winner Bobby Gerhart.
Starting in seventh on row four will be James Buescher's Toyota and nephew of ARCA's legedary Frank Kimmell...Will Kimmel.
Row five features another Toyota with Craig Goess and a Ford in 10th with Tom Hessert.
In row six is the man atop the practice charts on Thursday, Matt Carter and Brian Silas.
Other notables include: rookie Mikey Kyle in the Brad Keselowski owned Chevy rolling off 15th; Patrick Sheltra qualifying 16th and earning top honors out of the Dodge camp; 20th place went to Lofton's ESR teammate of Steve Arpin; the latest stock-car transplant Ricky Carmichael, driving a Kevin Harvick Inc. Chevy qualified 23rd; nine time ARCA champ Frank Kimmel will roll of 26.
Other drivers include: Richard Childress Racing developmental driver Payton Sellers will start 26th; Lofton's other teammate qualified 34th on a provisional.
Missing the race were Troy Wagnor, Stehen McCurley, Brad Smith, Steve Blackburn, J.R. Heffner, James Hylton, Dicky Richardson and roger Carter.
The story of the day was that seven of the top-10 spots featured Toyota, while Dodge's top qualifier was 16th, both big surprises.
The good news for those teams in the back is that qualifying doesn't usually matter at Daytona, so we will see as the Slick Mist 200 presented by Lucas Oil airs live at 4 p.m. Eastern time on SPEED Channel.
