Pacquiao vs. Bradley: 5 Reasons Pac-Man Will Dominate Undefeated Bradley

Scott CarasikJun 2, 2012

Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley will square off Saturday, June 9th in the MGM Grand Theatre in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pacquiao currently has a record of 54-3-2 while Bradley has a record of 28-0 with one no contest.

Though this fight looks like it should be good on paper, the fact of the matter is Pacquiao shouldn't lose to Bradley for any reason. Pacquiao is too dominant of a fighter and Bradley is being set up for his first loss.

Manny Pacquiao Is the Best Welterweight in the World

1 of 5

Manny Pacquiao is the WBO's Welterweight champion for a reason; he's one of the most dominant boxers of this generation. Pac-Man is undefeated as a welterweight fighter and he's beat the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez, "Sugar" Shane Mosely, Antonio Margarito, Miguel Angel Cotto and Oscar De La Hoya to get there.

When a list of speed bumps for Pacquiao is a veritable who's who of boxing's welterweights, it's hard to argue that he isn't the best welterweight of this generation. There is only one speed bump left for Pacquiao: Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Timothy Bradley Is in His First Fight as a Welterweight

Timothy Bradley has a great record of 28-0 with one no contest, however, he has never fought at the welterweight division before. Normally when boxers move up, it's because they have the punching power and overall talent to do so.

However, BoxingNews24.com has reported that Bradley looks ready despite the move up in class, even quoting legendary promoter Bob Arum:

"

Arum said this to the Manila Bulletin: “He looks ripped and ready.” Indeed, Bradley looks in superb shape almost like a gymnast or a body builder. He looks ready to take Pacquiao’s head off with one swing.

"

Yet with just 12 knockouts in his 29 professional fights, he doesn't look to have the same kind of scary punching power as Pacquiao to move up in class.

Bradley Hasn't Faced Anyone Even Remotely Close to Pacquiao.

Manny Pacquiao has arguably the strongest punches in the boxing world today. While Bradley has fought some great competitors, the premier fight on his record is Joel Casamayor. Bradley is like a Mountain West school trying to claim a spot in the college football national title game.

As ESPN quoted, even Pacquiao noticed that Bradley's competition doesn't compare to his:

"

I have speed and power to counter Bradley. My experience against Hall of Fame-caliber opposition is also an advantage for me. I have learned so much from fighting legends such as Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez. I also have the best teacher in my trainer, Freddie Roach.

"

Boxing has it right to give Bradley a shot, but it's hard to believe that Bradley will be competitive with Pacquiao when he hasn't been dominant against lesser competition. This looks like it will be a quality fight but Pacquiao should wind up on top.

Only One Welterweight Has Figured out How to Beat Pac-Man, and It's Not Bradley

4 of 5

Juan Manuel Marquez is the only fighter who has figured out the way to combat Pacquiao's Southpaw style. Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach has admitted that. According to an interview Pacquiao had with ESPN recently Pacquiao describes Marquez:

"

His deliberate and patient style of fighting is a product that comes from experience, and experience against great opposition. He's a brilliant counterpuncher.

My trainer, Freddie Roach, has said many times that Juan is the only smart one out there -- the only fighter who has figured me out.

"

Even though he figured out Pac-Man's style, Marquez has still fallen to Pacquiao two out of the three times, with the third being a draw between the two back in 2008. Every fight between Pac-Man and Marquez has been close as they have been either split decisions or majority decisions every time.

This Is Just Another Time Filler Until He Faces Mayweather

5 of 5

Manny Pacquiao is one of the top two pound-for-pound boxers out there. The other is Floyd Mayweather Jr. Until "Money" and Pacquiao fight once and for all, boxing fans will consider any fight these guys have as just filler and a time waster.

Boxers can't fight forever and fans want to see a super-fight of Pacquiao-Mayweather. It's gotten to a point that there doesn't even need to be any other fights that night, and people would gladly be willing to spend at least 80-100 dollars for the fight.

However, according to Pacquiao, the only one holding up this fight is Mayweather as Pacquiao was quoted by ESPN saying:

"

"Will the fight ever happen? It's up to Floyd. I hope it does. I'm a competitor and I enjoy a challenge. I know the fans want to see us fight. I think it would be good for boxing. As long as I continue fighting, I will remain hopeful that the fight will take place."

"

Boxing fans can only hope that Mayweather can wake up and smell the roses and agree to a fight that would prove once and for all who the best boxer in the world is.
