Liverpool FC: Breaking Down Liverpool's New Home Kits
In an era where Nike and Adidas continue to push the envelope in all things sports uniforms, Liverpool decided to take a sidestep and go with a new supplier and simpler kit.
The Anfield giants have officially released their new home kits designed by Warrior, and club captain Steven Gerrard was quoted saying, via Mirror Football, "For fit, comfort and functionality, it’s one of the best kits I’ve worn—the fans will love it."
The simpler design is reportedly inspired by legendary Liverpooler Bill Shankly and the kits worn by his 1964/65 squad. Also reintroduced, to the delight of many, is the amber yellow Liver Bird emblem.

A statement from Warrior, via Mirror, reads, "Shankly believed the high-risk red gave players a physical and psychological edge over their opponents."
Liverpool are looking for any type of edge after toiling to their worst league finish since 1994. It has now been 22 years since the Reds last won the league. Their capture of this year's Carling Cup, however, is the first trophy to be hoisted at Anfield since the 2006 FA Community Shield. They also reached the FA Cup final where they fell to eventual Champions League winners Chelsea.
The kits come at a perfect time, as the Reds look to turn over a new leaf in their storied history. Brendan Rodgers has finally been hired as Kenny Dalglish's successor, and the club can now get started on bringing in the reinforcements it desperately needs on the pitch.
Any new players arriving at Anfield will be welcomed with a new, highly-developed shirt that head of Warrior Football Richard Wright says will "redefine" expectations, via Goal.com:
""By partnering our knowledge of making high performance sports apparel with Liverpool FC's rich history, Warrior has successfully created a kit that will empower players with the means to dominate."
"
One particular player they hope will truly dominate is Craig Bellamy. The 32-year-old Welsh footballer is Warrior's first football ambassador.
According to Mirror Football, all proceeds will help fund Bellamy's foundation:
"In a unique deal that will see the sponsorship fee go directly to the Craig Bellamy Foundation in Sierra Leone, Warrior will work closely with Bellamy to raise global awareness of the Foundation and build on his work to date. The Liverpool front man will also work alongside Warrior to develop its debut football boot collection.
"
The fiery veteran who had spent the previous season in the English Championship League was one of the few bright spots for the Reds this past year.
Liverpool and Warrior have nothing to lose in this relationship as both are trying to break into Premier League relevance.
In the end, it's about the players enjoying what they're wearing and Gerrard was quoted by Mirror Football saying, "Warrior has designed a kit that embodies everything that is great about Liverpool Football Club."
It appears Warrior and Liverpool are off to a great start.
