San Antonio Spurs vs. Oklahoma City Thunder: 7 Bold Predictions for Game 3

Raul HingoraniMay 31, 2012

The first two games of the Western Conference Finals have already been sensational.

Game 1 included a three-point-loss for the Thunder. The Spurs played magnificent basketball, having almost all of their shots come from easy layups or open threes. Manu Ginobili stepped up and scored 26 well-earned points to take the Spurs to a 1-0 lead in the series.

With a defeat, the Thunder were awaiting a chance to come back in Game 2, but it just wasn't meant to be. Tony Parker stepped on the gas pedal in this game and scored 34 points, along with 3 rebounds and 8 assists. For the Thunder, Kevin Durant scored 31 points, accompanied by 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and two blocks.

With the first two games over, Game 3 in OKC will be a very interesting one.

Can the Thunder come back in this series? Or will the Spurs come one step closer to reaching the finals?

Here are seven bold predictions for Game 3 of this intense series.

Kevin Durant Will Score More Than 35 Points

1 of 7

Being the main leader of this Oklahoma City team, Kevin Durant must be suffering the most as a result of two straight losses that could have been won.

After having scored 27 points in Game 1 and 31 points in Game 2, I'm sure he is just waiting to erupt in Game 3 at home.

With revenge on his mind, I'm sure he will be merciless toward whoever has the misfortune of defending him.

Manu Ginobili Will Score 25 Points

2 of 7

Manu Ginobili has been one of the players to watch in this series.

In Game 1 he scored 26 points, including a last-second buzzer-beating three-pointer at the end of the first quarter that made the San Antonio crowd erupt.

Toward the end of the game Manu had a sick drive where he faked a pass back, and then finished the layup with class.

In Game 2 he had 20 points. He might not have scored as much as in Game 1, but he still hit some great shots that got the crowd going.

In Game 3, however, I predict that he is going to up the ante and make Oklahoma's defense work hard to stop him.

A Block by Serge Ibaka Will Stimulate a Double Technical

3 of 7

Serge Ibaka is a block maestro. In the regular season, he has had two 10 block games and one 11 block game. That is enough to let you know how good of a shot-blocker he is.

This series is one that will stimulate some anger and physicality, and I predict that a block by Ibaka is going to make one of the Spurs players stir up a fight.

This will result in a double-technical with an other Oklahoma City player coming to his aid.

James Harden Will Step Up His Game and Score 20 Points

4 of 7

In the first two games the beard-man just hasn't been able to get his rhythm going.

Usually Harden comes off the bench and plays against the second-unit of the opposing team. However, in this series he comes of the bench and has to match up against Manu Ginobili, which makes his job harder than usual.

However, I predict that he will be able to figure it out and put up a 20 point game at home.

Russell Westbrook Will Score Roughly 25 Points

5 of 7

Russell Westbrook has been pretty solid throughout this series. He has been relying on his mid-range jumper to score a good amount of points. He has also been able to penetrate and lay it in.

I see a performance similar to the others he has put up so far in this series: He will score around 25 points and will dish out around 7 assists.

Tony Parker Will Put Up a Double-Double

6 of 7

Tony Parker has had good performances up to this point in this series.

He scored 18 points and had 6 assists in Game 1. In Game 2, he scored a massive 34 points and dished out 8 assists.

Those were some great numbers.

I predict an 18-point-performance along with around 12 assists for Parker.

The Thunder Will Win Game 3 by at Least 10 Points

7 of 7

After two draining losses, I predict that the Thunder will want revenge, so they will win this game by a margin of at least 10 points.

The Spurs will play the good basketball they have been playing up to this point in the postseason, but each player on the Thunder will step up to help the team win this game.
