Tia Norfleet Is NASCAR's Only African-American Female Driver...and She's Hot
Tia Norfleet is breaking new ground as an African-American female trying to make it in NASCAR. Let's celebrate that fact in the only way we at the Daily Swag know how.
Black Sports Online reports on Norfleet and her accomplishment in the sport. We follow suit in celebrating her feat by supplying you all with must-see images.
Yes, the best way to raise awareness about this tremendous story is to get you some pics to ogle. Hooray for Tuesdays.
Norfleet spoke in this video on her motivation which she takes from her parents. She would help her father work on cars and notes his courage in making his way through the industry. Her father is Bobby Norfleet, a driver who debuted in 2000 at the Portland International Raceway road course.
Of course, there will be comparisons between Norfleet and Danica Patrick. You only need to see the entire video to know that Norfleet would take umbrage to such a comparison.
She is her own woman trying to make a unique impact on the sport she loves.
Inland Valley News reported on Norfleet, the racing legacy she comes from and her continued search for funding to get her on the NASCAR track and keep her there.
Still, the path for his daughter has not been smooth and she faces an uphill battle in a sport that continues to struggle with featuring minority drivers.
Norfleet does have a path to funding, and the Inland Valley News reports on the online fundraising organization called Tiapower.com, which is trying to raise the money to get Norfleet on the course.
The CEO, Isaac Hayes, states Norfleet is the ultimate competitor, and he is trying to get the funds for the world to finally find that out.
Getting her on the course can only help expand the sport to new and exciting corners of the nation. Norfleet has the look, the talent and the hopeful financial backing.
If it all works out, she could be one of the best things to happen to the growth of the sport in some time.

UPDATE: Norfleet—and, by consequence, numerous media outlets—has exaggerated her exploits.
According to Viv Bernstein of The New York Times, "...Norfleet is not licensed to compete [on the Nationwide Series]. In fact, the only sanctioned race that Norfleet has entered, according to the sport’s officials, was a low-level event last year at the Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va., where she completed one lap before driving onto pit road and parking her racecar.
"The discrepancy between Norfleet’s auto racing accomplishments and her public comments, as well as apparent legal issues revealed in court documents, have drawn objections from racing officials."
