Donnie Nietes vs. Felipe Salguero: Preview, Start Time, Live Stream and Schedule
WBO light flyweight world champion Donnie Nietes is set to defend his title on Saturday against Felipe Salguero.
The 30-year-old incumbent champion will compete in front of his home fans in the Philippines, so there is no doubt that the Mexican Salguero will be stepping into hostile territory.
Nietes has a sparkling career mark of 29-1-3, while Salguero sits at 16-2-1. As is the case with most light flyweights, both Nietes and Salguero are incredibly quick in the ring in terms of their feet and hand movements, so Saturday's fight figures to be an exciting one.
Nietes is on a 16-match winning streak and is considered one of the best Filipino boxers ever along with Manny Pacquiao. Facing Nietes anywhere would have been a tall task for Salguero, but doing it in front of such a one-sided crowd will add a very interesting dynamic.

Keys to Nietes Win
In terms of experience, Nietes has a big advantage over Salguero, and that is something that he'll have to utilize on Saturday.
Nietes has been one of the best flyweights in boxing for quite some time now and he has been in a number of important fights. Salguero has had some tough opponents in his own right, but there is absolutely no question that Nietes will provide his biggest test.
Additionally, Nietes needs to feed off the energy that the crowd is sure to provide. Every boxer reacts differently to a hometown crowd—some feel too much pressure, while others love it and thrive because of the added support. Nietes appears to be the type of fighter who enjoys it, though, so he should be very comfortable. As long as Nietes uses those intangibles to his advantage, he should be just fine.
Keys to Salguero Win
Since losing the first two fights of his professional career Salguero has gone on a 16-0-1 run, with 11 of those victories coming by way of knockout.
While most would agree that Nietes is the superior all-around fighter, Salguero appears to have more punching power. Obviously, that won't mean much if he can't make contact with Nietes, but all it takes is one punch for an upset to occur.
Since Nietes seems likely to out-box Salguero, the Mexican's best chance is likely to attempt to score a knockout. It won't be easy since Nietes is a very slippery fighter, but going to the scorecards would be a very bad proposition for Salguero. A decision win isn't an impossibility, but he would be playing with fire if he were to go that route.
Prediction
Nietes displays his all-round prowess and defeats Salguero via a 12-round unanimous decision.
