NBA Draft Lottery 2012: Overrated Players That Will Quickly Flame out
The 2012 NBA draft class appears quite deep. But, like almost every draft, there are certainly going to be some busts just waiting to be selected far too early that will disappoint their franchises.
Let’s take a look at three of the most obvious players projected to go within the top 14 picks who don’t have a good future outlook.
Andre Drummond
Drummond appears to be the classic case of a big man being selected far too early because of his upside and tremendous size.
Unfortunately, that is about all he brings to the table right now.
He was completely underwhelming during his time with the UConn Huskies and absolutely blew it in their most important game of the season.
In the NCAA tournament against Iowa State, he was held to just two points, three rebounds and four blocks before fouling out after 26 minutes.
Perry Jones III
Jones is like that guy at your pickup game that could get every rebound and score at will by driving to the paint, but instead decides to take awful contested jumpers and walk from three-point line to three-point line.
His skills are out of this world, but his motor is just absolutely atrocious. There is simply no way that someone who doesn’t try against inferior college opponents is going to all of the sudden decide to elevate his game against the best players in the world.
Jared Sullinger
Sullinger doesn’t have the athleticism or the ceiling to be worth a lottery pick. He’s not going to be an awful player by any means, but he’s also not going to give whichever team drafts him much more than he has shown at Ohio State.
He’s a hard worker around the basket, but he doesn’t have the ups to go up and get rebounds over bigger players.
The upside is limited here and Sullinger doesn’t look to be much more than a role player in this league.
