Pacquiao vs. Bradley: Strategy Desert Storm Must Use to Have a Shot vs. PacMan
Manny Pacquiao has won 54 matches in his career for a reason.
Sporting a sparkling 54-3-2 (38 KOs) record, nobody is as experienced and successful as Pacman right now in the ring.
Underdog Timothy Bradley and his 28-0 record with 12 knockouts is a terrific challenger and needs to stick to a specific game plan if he plans on pulling off the shocking upset.
Bradley needs to study Pacquiao’s last fight against Juan Manuel Marquez. He should mimic Marquez’s ability to get outside foot position and force Pacquiao to lean forward and create the action.
While Bradley may not have the counter skills of Marquez, it's one of his strengths. If Bradley can consistently hit Pacman with sharp head and body shots, he’ll be able to wear him down.
While there's no question Pacquiao will be in terrific shape on June 9, at the age of 33, it’s natural for him to slow down a bit after 59 fights. Bradley is 28 and has registered less than half of the ring time. That means Bradley needs to fend off Pacquiao’s attacks early and head to Round 8 or 9 with a lead.
In the last few rounds, Pacman is going to be exhausted and will be more reckless in his attack. That’s when Bradley’s superior physical shape comes in handy. That’s when he needs to ramp up his aggressiveness and make Pacquiao pay.
Another important factor for Desert Storm is protecting himself.
Pacquiao has a furious left hook that's a big reason why he has 38 knockouts. Bradley must avoid letting Pacman land more than just a few devastating blows, which goes back to why he needs to take the Marquez approach. Defense will lead to a good offense for Bradley.
Force Pacquiao to create the action. Be the counter king. Grab an early lead and become very aggressive in the final three to four rounds.
This is the game plan Desert Storm needs to implement to pull off one of the bigger upsets in recent boxing history.
