Pacquiao vs Bradley Undercard: Predictions for Every Non-Main Event Fight

Ian HanfordJun 5, 2018

Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley's WBO Welterweight title match is the MGM Grand's unquestioned headliner on June 9, but they will not be the only ones squaring off.

Two of the Welterweight division's best fighters, Mike Jones and Randall Bailey, will battle for the vacant IBF Welterweight championship. WBA Super Bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux will defend his title against Teon Kennedy, and Jorge Arce will fight Jesus Rojas in a junior featherweight battle.

Two of these fights are for world championships. These six fighters have knocked out a combined 128 opponents in 191 combined bouts.

Those are recipes for a tasty undercard.

Let's take a look at each fight and predict who will come out victorious.

Mike Jones vs. Randall Bailey

Jones and Bailey are fighting for the same belt, but coming from two different directions.

Jones is making his first world-title challenge of his professional career. Bailey is a former two-time champion, looking to get back on top late in his career.

Jones' professional career began in 2005. Bailey won his first world title in 1999.

These two prolific punchers may have very different levels of experience, but their goal is the same. Knock the opponent on the canvas, as fast as possible.

Bailey won his first 21 professional bouts by way of knockout. Overall, he has won 36 of his 41 career victories by way of a deadly array of punches.

Jones is also known for his power, knocking out 19 of his first 26 opponents.

Expect these two brawlers to go toe-to-toe for as many rounds as it takes. Both fighters love to mix it up and neither back down from any challenge.

Bailey's experience will go one of two ways. Either he will play like a grizzled veteran, using every inch of the canvas to lure Jones into his trap, or he will get run ragged by Jones' youthful legs.

Experience prevails. Bailey's combination of experience, power and a huge moment for Jones prove to be too large.

Winner: Randall Bailey

Guillermo Rigondeaux vs. Teon Kennedy

Rigondeaux is a 31-year-old with only nine career bouts, seven of which were successful knockouts. Kennedy is 17-1-2 with seven career knockouts.

You would think Rigondeaux is more experienced because of his age, but that is not the case. Rigondeaux claimed the WBA title last January with a victory over champion Rico Ramos.

Kennedy is a 25-year-old, high-volume puncher coming off a loss to Alejandro Lopez by unanimous decision. Kennedy has a tendency of punching too much, leaving himself exposed and getting punished because of it.

Rigondeaux's knockout percentage looks crazy, but the sample size is so small. Kennedy's mediocre power will not put Rigondeaux's chin to the test, allowing him to showcase the skills that earned him the WBA title.

Rigondeaux relies on body punching and counters to win fights. Assuming Kennedy does not protect himself better than he did against Lopez, this will be a problem.

Rigondeaux gets a chance to prove himself and takes advantage of it with a late-round knockout.

Winner: Guillermo Rigondeaux

Now we get to the fight with no title implications. Even without a championship on the line, this fight may be the most exciting matchup.

Arce is one of boxing's most renowned names. He has won championships in five different divisions, has not been beaten in nine straight bouts and has won 46 of his 60 career victories by virtue of knockout.

Rojas only has 20 career fights (less than one-third of Arce's experience), but has not been beaten in his last six fights. He has 13 knockouts in 18 career victories.

These two fighters may come from different generations, but their styles are similar. Both are aggressive fighters, solid with both hands and both glide around the ring with ease.

Arce's legs may be the determining factor. He has not fought on a big stage in over a year. The first few rounds will show if he is ready or not.

Rojas wants to use his youth and explosiveness to pin Arce against the ropes. If he can do that, his power and endurance will take over.

Arce is a future Hall of Fame inductee, but Rojas' day is coming. In this instance, sooner than expected.

Winner: Jesus Rojas
