With the UEFA Champions League final having been decided, there are only another 10 days between now and the opening of the 2012 summer transfer window.

There are rumors upon rumors upon more rumors as to who, what, when and where is set to happen and the merry-go-round that is the summer market is sure to be one of great excitement this season.

A summer packed with both the UEFA European Championship, 2012 Summer Olympic Soccer tournament and more around the globe is sure to make the case for many up and coming stars as well as seasoned veterans to get new contracts and opportunity.

However, there are some deals that are being tracked and hyped beyond all others. With only days to go before the madness starts, here are the top rumors that could come to fruition once the window opens.

Luka Modric

Luka Modric has appeared to be looking for a way out of Tottenham for the last year.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have all been labeled as interested parties domestically, while Real Madrid has been said to be a possible destination on the continent.

However, Chelsea's victory in the UEFA Champions League final may have given him the window he has been searching for.

Nicolas Gaitan

Benfica midfielder Nicolas Gaitan continues to be linked with a move to Manchester United.

As one of the brightest young talents that was seen on the top European seen this season, Gaitan will be attracting additional attention from around the continent that could drive his price up.

However, United looks to be the front runner for the versatile 24-year-old, but no official offer is said to be on the table and Gaitan and Benfica may wait until after the player's summer appearance with Portugal in the UEFA European Championship before making a decision.

A strong performance from Gaitan could see his value grow even larger than his currently believed £20 million.

Shinji Kagawa

Borussia Dortmund are doing all they can to try and strong arm 23-year-old starlet Shinji Kagawa into staying at the club.

However, it looks like it is only pushing him further away and making his transfer fee rise week after week.

Kagawa has reportedly had talks with Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson on the possibility of making a switch to the Red Devils according to Metro, as the Japanese international appears determined to make a move to England.

This summer will see his transfer become a battle as any club that feels they have the funds to sign the player will want him for his scoring and creative ability in the attacking third.

Clint Dempsey

Clint Dempsey has had a storybook year in the English Premier League.

The American has broken multiple records for a player from the United States in the EPL and ended the season on a massive high.

Arsenal and Liverpool were tipped as the leaders for his signature earlier in the month of May according to Metro, but the recent turmoil at Anfield could push the Gunners into the drivers seat despite the addition of Lukas Podolski.

Eden Hazard

While it is not believed a deal with a massive probability, there are thoughts that City could allow Aguero to go in order to sign Arsenal's Robin Van Persie.
