Eden Hazard: Breaking Down Which EPL Club He Would Help the Most

Tim KeeneyJun 5, 2018

Lille superstar Eden Hazard will be playing football in the English Premier League next season; we just don't know where.

Football fans who just want Hazard to make his decision were hoping this whole ordeal would come to an end by tonight, but not so fast.

After Hazard dropped a hat trick against Nancy in France's Ligue 1, he revealed he wasn't quite ready to make a decision (via the Daily Mirror's Darren Lewis):

After all that! Hazard says he still hasn't decided yet. Ridiculous.

Hazard's decision will come down to both Manchester clubs and Chelsea. While his decision likely won't come down to this in the end, let's take a look at what squad he'll help the most.

Manchester City

To be honest, City needs Hazard the least out of these three squads. The EPL champs just have too many weapons.

Hazard, a midfielder who works from the left, has mostly made a living working the sidelines and crossing the ball into the middle. That's not City's style.

They don't have a ton of size in the middle, so crossing in balls isn't all that effective. Instead, the champions rely on working through the middle and connecting on through balls behind the defense.

Of course, Hazard is also adept at doing those types of things as he can play a central attacking role out of the midfield. The youngster is a great talent, but all this signing would do be adding more depth to an already stacked unit.

Manchester United

The Red Devils are much more willing to work the ball down the sidelines, so Hazard make sense. However, last year's big-time signing, Ashley Young, is already in position over there on the left.

It's not like Young is irreplaceable, but he's not terrible, either. The 26-year-old scored six goals and seven assists in 19 appearances for United in the Premier League. He has had trouble staying healthy, but he produces quite well when he's in there.

So, while Hazard would be an upgrade, it's not a position that is in desperate need for United. Where the young Belgian might be more needed is again in that central attacking role, where he could link the midfield and Wayne Rooney while taking a bit of the pressure off Rooney.

Chelsea

The Blues may be kings of Europe, but they certainly could use some firepower on the goal-scoring side of the ball.

Late in the season, Didier Drogba was Chelsea's only threat on the attack, and there's a good chance he won't even be around next season.

Hazard would likely move around within Chelsea's formation, but putting him in a central attacking role and letting him use his impressive skills with the ball and precision shooting would help them the most.
