The NBA: Where the Warriors Constantly Get Screwed Happens
The Golden State Warriors lost to the San Antonio Spurs tonight in Oakland, California. Unfortunately, it wasn't the Spurs who beat the Warriors, but it was Dick Bavetta's crew that made it happen. The Warriors were pretty much in control of the game and should have won in regulation.
Yet, the game slipped away because of Stephen Jackson getting a technical for sticking up for Ronny Turiaf who took an elbow from Kurt Thomas. The question is where were the officials looking at the time. It was as clear as day that Turiaf got fouled and yet no whistle.
The final points scored by the Spurs in regulation on the free throws by Manu Ginobili should have never been given. Turiaf played Ginobili perfectly and to use Jim Barnett's expression about the call "pathetic." Yes, it was. It's pathetic that a veteran crew bought it.
The funny thing is on the ensuing possession Stephen Jackson did the same kind of thing Ginobili did hoping for a foul. Was there one called? No because there was no foul. How come it seems like that the Warriors always get the officials who do not know how to call a game?
This all comes back to having a conspiracy theory in the league that the better teams will get the benefit of the doubt where as the mediocre to bad teams will never get the respect of the officials. To me David Stern has never addressed this issue and a majority of the fans of the NBA knows this is true.
With tonight's game this is the icing on the cake. The NBA is rigged there is no doubt about it and the sad thing is it won't change until David Stern is gone as commissioner.
After tonight's game though it's painfully obvious that Dick Bavetta's services are no longer needed he should be fired. The rest this crew tonight should be suspended indefinitely and should miss a minimum of 10 games.
