NBA Draft 2012: Anthony Davis and More Centers Who Will Dominate as Rookies
This year's NBA draft class has several talented center prospects, such as Kentucky star Anthony Davis, who will bolster the frontcourts of struggling teams.
There aren't many dominating centers in the NBA anymore, so finding a big man who can play well at both ends of the floor as a rookie is a top priority for many teams.
Let's look at the three best centers in this year's class.
Anthony Davis
Very few big men have entered the draft with as much athletic talent as Kentucky Wildcats center Anthony Davis.
His ability to block shots with his long reach and great timing is fantastic, and he has incredible ball-handling skills for a center. Offensively, he won't dominate as a rookie, but he has shown the potential to make teams believe he can average 15-20 points per game as a pro.
Davis is the top prospect in 2012 and he will be a superstar NBA player in just a few seasons.
Tyler Zeller
North Carolina Tar Heels star Tyler Zeller is a very valuable center because his offensive game is strong, and his defense in the low post is fundamentally impressive.
He doesn't commit stupid fouls and has a high basketball IQ. On offense, Zeller's shooting range extends to near the three-point line, and he uses the turn-around hook shot to his advantage.
Arnett Moultrie
The Mississippi State Bulldogs star is an athletic center who likes to get out in transition and be a factor on the fast break.
At 6'11", he has the size needed to guard NBA centers, and his low-post defense is solid. He needs to add some strength to his body, but that should not be a hard challenge for him.
On offense, Moultrie can shoot the mid-range shot and finish at the rim off of offensive rebounds. Moultrie didn't get a lot of national attention this season, but he will make a name for himself very quickly in the NBA.
