Wisconsin Badgers Football: Latest News, Injuries and Team Updates
It's now time to look ahead to the college football regular season as the spring is officially over for the Wisconsin Badgers. They lost their starting quarterback from last year, have a few off-the-field issues heading into camp and are bringing in a solid recruiting class.
It looks like this could be another productive and interesting year for this Wisconsin program.
Here is the latest Wisconsin Badgers news and updates as we inch closer to the 2012 season.
Montee Ball Is Ticketed
1 of 4Wisconsin star running back Montee Ball was given a ticket for trespassing during a block party on Mifflin Street. He was issued a $429 ticket and was sent on his way. Reports claim that alcohol was not an issue and that Ball was very cooperative throughout the entire process.
Bleacher Report writer Adam Jacobi believes that this incident shouldn't have much of an impact on the team moving forward.
Ball is truly the heart and soul of this Wisconsin offense, rushing for over 1,900 yards last season and 39 total touchdowns.
RB Alex Collins Checks out Wisconsin
2 of 4Alex Collins is a 4-star running back of the 2013 class, and although he's verbally committed to the Miami Hurricanes, he's still looking at other schools. His first stop was checking out Wisconsin, and he was very impressed with what he saw. (Via Scout)
“The facilities are being done and relocated,” Collins said. “It’s going to be done in 2013 and it’s going to be awesome. I have never seen that type of equipment before and to have it in place by the time I go to college is a good thing to know. I wouldn’t have to use a backup weight room. It’s an amazing layout.”
Collins is a complete running back who has great speed and solid hands. He's not the biggest back at 5'11", 185 pounds, but he's very elusive and has great field vision. It seems like Wisconsin really had an impact on him, but he'll wait to take his mother on some official visits before making his final decision.

3 of 4Despite losing quarterback Russell Wilson and some depth along the defensive line, ESPN ranks the Badgers No. 16 in their new preseason poll released last week. Wisconsin is right behind Stanford in the polls, but ahead of teams such as Virginia Tech, Clemson and Nebraska.
