Steelers lead the all-time series 32-23-3.
Last Meeting
The last time the Steelers and Cardinals faced off was the fourth game of 2007. It was a matchup of two rookie head coaches at the time, Mike Tomlin and Ken Whisenhunt, and somewhat of a revenge game for Whisenhunt against his former team, the Steelers.
The Cardinals hosted and ended up winning 21-14. They were helped out significantly by Steve Breaston's 73-yard punt return for a touchdown, which was the franchise's first punt return touchdown since 1993.
Overall Meetings
The teams have split their last four meetings (since 1992) and have played eight times overall since the Steelers moved into the AFC in 1970.
Super Bowl Appearances
For the Steelers, a Super Bowl win would put their franchise at six, which would be the most in the NFL.
For the Cardinals, this is their first appearance.
Card-Pitt in 1944
In 1944, the two teams merged because both sides had lost too many players to World War II military service.
They quickly earned the nickname Car-pitts, as in carpets, because they were not a very good team. Card-Pitt finished 0-10 on the season, which remains as the Steelers' only winless season in franchise history.
In 1943, the Steelers had merged with the Eagles to form the Steagles.
