Mayweather vs. Cotto: Money May Will Be Taken to Brink by Underrated Junito
Floyd Mayweather will take on Miguel Cotto, a boxer that will prove he is far more gifted and powerful than he is being given credit for.
May 5th is a date that is already starting in the deficit. We all had big expectations for Cinco de Mayo when Money May asserted he wanted Manny Pacquiao for the big day.
Of course, that promise was washed away as other rumors of an epic clash between the two has, but there is a lot to like about this match upcoming on Saturday.
It may not be the marquee match that would be a must-see for millions of fair-weather boxing fans, but it will be worth while.
Cotto continues on his comeback tour after suffering his first loss to Antonio Margarito in 2008. The Puerto Rican fighter has already avenged that loss, but there is far more work to be done.
You see, Cotto is a big name that will always be a notch below the superstars that we continue to ballyhoo and try to get together in the ring.
The 31-year-old boxer only has two losses. One will forever be clouded in controversy, the other was a 12-round TKO against Pacquiao.
Since that fight, Cotto has slowly and surely come back to the boxer he once was, exuding confidence and bravado in the ring.
He has always been seen as an aggressive boxer that instigates the action, forcing the issue with his size and ring demeanor.
That was lost in the first Margarito fight, but it has returned in droves following the second.
Something finally clicked in his grudge match with Margarito, and it's the reason that I give him a chance against the undefeated Mayweather.
Cotto is back in form, stature and psyche.
Mayweather will not be cheated, getting every last bit of what Cotto has, and that was good enough to take Pacquiao to the distance in 2009.
It will certainly be enough to take Mayweather to the brink on May 5th.
