Anthony Bennett: Power Ranking Best Schools for Prized Recruit

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

While there is still no word on where he will be going to college, Anthony Bennett does keep narrowing his prospective list down with each passing day. There are four teams left but only one fits his style of play perfectly.

One of the long-shot schools on his list, Washington, was eliminated last week. There is no word yet on when Bennett will decide where to go, so it is up to us to help his decision-making along.

Here are the four schools in which Bennett is still considering power ranked based on how well their system fits his talents.

No. 4 Oregon Ducks

This would be the choice that Bennett would make if he wanted to stay close to home. He lives in Nevada and would be able to play ball in the Pacific Northwest. But if he didn't want to go to Washington, it is hard to envision him going to Oregon.

While the Ducks do run a good system that would utilize Bennett's talents, he would not be able to showcase everything that he can do with a limited amount of talent surrounding him. If he wants to be The Man with no shot at winning a title, this would be the spot for him.

No. 3 Kentucky Wildcats

The defending champions are reloading for another run with the best recruiting class in the country already. If Bennett decides to go to Kentucky, the roof would come off Rupp Arena.

John Calipari has so much depth and high-end talent that he eventually runs out of room for all the players he wants to bring in.

I am sure he could find a spot for a 6'7" power forward with range, athleticism and rebounding skills, but they don't need him to be one of the best teams in college basketball next season.

No. 2  Florida Gators

The Gators need to get more athletic in the paint, but Bennett is not a traditional power forward. He is better away from the basket thanks to his range, speed and ability to drive the lane.

Bennett's rebounding skills would be a welcome addition to the smallish Florida frontcourt. He would be given a lot of freedom to do what he wants, especially since he can shoot a high percentage from anywhere on the floor.

No. 1 UNLV Runnin' Rebels

A bit of a surprise because they aren't a traditional power, but the Rebels are a program on the rise and have a perfect mix of speed and aggressiveness on offense.

Head coach Dave Rice has built a successful unit because he goes after athletes rather than targeting specific positions. The biggest problem this team had last year was rebounding, and Bennett has great instincts on defense and can get on the glass as well as any recruit in this class.

Bennett's presence alone would make the Rebels an easy top 10-15 team in the country entering next season.
