Kelechi Osemele to Ravens: Video Highlights, Scouting Report and Analysis
A perplexing prospect, Kelechi Osemele has the look of a prototypical NFL offensive lineman. At 6'5" and 333 pounds, the former Cyclone is as strong as an ox and can absolutely erase defensive players when he gets his hands on them. The trouble is, his effort seems to come and go from game to game.
A collegiate tackle who projects inside to guard in the NFL, Osemele famously had his commitment to football and overall toughness questioned by an anonymous scout. Speaking to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Bob McGinn, the scout opined "He was raised by women, which bothers me. I mean, how tough can he be? It's not his fault, but it's still reality."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
What the Experts Are Saying:
Strength:
From CBS Sports' Dane Brugler:
"(in pass blocking) Keeps his shoulders square to the defender and puts himself in very good position to be effective. Does a nice job bending his knees, sinking his hips and anchoring at the point of attack with a naturally wide and strong base. He has ideal length (84-inch wingspan) and extends his arms to keep rushers at bay. Looks best inside. Uses his eyes well and has really improved staying patient in his stance and not allowing himself to become overextended.
"
Weakness:
"Showcases solid initial quickness for his size off the edge, but not enough to hold his own vs. NFL caliber speed rushers. Gets high with his pad level and overextended with his footwork when trying to reach the edge and/or re-direct back inside. Has a tendency to double over at the waist into contact, lose balance and whiff at his target. Can sit into his stance and anchor, but when trying to play fast he gets too high, allowing defenders to get under his pad level and turn the corner.
"
While Osemele has some of the trappings of a classic underachiever, his talent can't be denied. The key to his development at the pro level will be a patient offensive line coach and staff.
Osemele's drive and desire was uneven in college. However, with this "raised by women" nonsense now looming over him, he may have found something that motivates him to bring out a more consistent effort in the NFL.
