Seth Greenberg out as Virginia Tech Head Basketball Coach
Virginia Tech athletic director Jim Weaver announced today that Seth Greenberg will no longer be the head coach the Hokies basketball team.
The move comes as a surprise. According to ESPN.com basketball insider Andy Katz, Greenberg had no idea he was about to lose his job.
Greenberg was fired by Virginia Tech after nine seasons in Blacksburg where he posted a 170-123 record, but only made it to one NCAA tournament with the Hokies.

Weaver stated that Virginia Tech simply wanted to move on from the Greenberg era, which saw the Hokies spurned by the NCAA selection committee several times.
"We need to go in another direction," said Weaver.
Virginia Tech struggled all season and only won 16 games while losing 17 and did not even participate in the National Invitational Tournament.
The struggles of this past season coupled with years of falling short of NCAA tournament berths are what reportedly led to Greenberg's departure.
The Hokies will begin their search for a new head coach to replace Greenberg immediately.
