WWE Extreme Rules 2012: 4 Additional Matches We Need Added ASAP

Nick HouserJun 5, 2018

The four announced matches at Extreme Rules 2012 look fantastic, but the WWE needs to stop delaying and put guys like Cody Rhodes and Lord Tensai on the card.

Most of the matches—the ones already listed and those I'm about to propose—are rematches from WrestleMania 28. Of course, one thing's changed.

Extreme rules.

There's plenty of unfinished business in the WWE. Most who are feuding now, have been entangled in the same storyline for a month or two.

Competitors have fought in tag matches on Raw or SmackDown and in one-on-one contests during PPVs.

Now it's time to finish it.

There's nothing left to do for most of these feuds but to let it all hang out—in extreme fashion.

Here are a couple of matches the WWE has to add immediately to the April 29 card.

No Disqualification Match: The Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes

1 of 5

This is a match most of us see coming. The Big Show and Cody Rhodes will fight once more.

Though Big Show would love to trap Rhodes in something like a Cage match so he wouldn't be allowed to run around and escape, the chances are slim.

I don't imagine Show climbing well and Rhodes won't agree to it anyway.

He needs an equalizer to Show's size.

Weapons would do it.

Rhodes will require a No Disqualification match instead of a regular hardcore to tease with a count-out.

A First Blood match would be equally fun to watch, too.

Santino Marella & Brodus Clay vs. Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger & Lord Tensai

2 of 5

The recent pairing of Santino Marella with Brodus Clay to feud with Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger have many fans intrigued at the possibilities.

So far, it's disappointed.

Each time they've met—as a tag team or in one-on-one bouts—there has been interference, shenanigans or it's just ended too quickly.

There's an easy solution: Put all of them in a No Disqualification match.

I might be alone on this, but no-tag formats have always been more thrilling, too.

Now of course, there's no way general manager John Laurinaitis forces his boys—Ziggler and Swagger—into a situation that could lead to an unfavorable outcome.

So to ensure success, he makes it a handicap match.

Hello again, Lord Tensai.

Back again to do Laurinaitis' dirty work.

Lingerie Pillow Fight: Kelly Kelly vs. Alicia Fox vs. Bella Twins vs. Natalya

3 of 5

Hear me out on this one.

The WWE Divas Division needs help and a lot of it.

To be taken seriously, the belt has to be on the line more often. But before being taken seriously, there has to be mass attention drawn to the area.

Now, why do most of us care—even if little—about the Divas Division?

Because most Divas are gorgeous and scantily clad as it is.

So let's do one better.

It's called "Extreme Rules." That doesn't have to mean hardcore matches. In this case it can mean outrageous rules.

Let's put the Divas in a match to officially determine the No. 1 contender.

Champion Beth Phoenix has to be involved, so she can be the guest announcer or even the guest referee.

Put Alicia Fox, the Bella twins, Natalya and of course, Kelly Kelly (Sorry, no AJ) in the ring together—in lingerie.

The winner gets a title shot on Raw.

Last Man Standing Match: Mark Henry vs. The Miz

4 of 5

Granted, the probability of this match taking place is slim to none.

But there's a perfect setup lying in wait for the WWE to capitalize on.

Here's the story—Mark Henry was humiliated on SmackDown when Cody Rhodes and Daniel Bryan left him in the ring to receive the Weapon of Mass Destruction, the Brogue Kick and the RKO.

Henry is already an angry man.

This should only make his attitude sour further. So he's "looking for someone to take it out on."

Meanwhile, the Miz has been left out of meaningful storylines (and shows all together).

Use his Twitter as a storyline.

The Miz is upset with his role and voices his opinion in public comments.

John Laurinaitis—needing to teach the Miz a lesson—puts him in a match with Henry at Extreme Rules 2012. To make it more improbable for Miz to win, JL makes it a Last Man Standing match.

Both guys need this.

Henry is on a roll right now. He's looked really good in the ring lately against CM Punk and in the six-man tag match on SmackDown.

Keep the momentum going.

The Miz needs anything at this point. The move could officially turn him to a babyface, too.

Various Other Options

5 of 5

WrestleMania 28 held eight matches, one of which lasted 18 seconds.

Extreme Rules should feature around the same. With the four major matches setting up to become epic, there might not be time for an additional four matches, let alone the ideas below.

Perhaps these are best-suited for dark matches, but here are just a few other ideas:

Ryback vs. Zack Ryder

Ryback's latest squash of what looked like a 12-year-old kid out of the crowd was a joke. He needs a real opponent.

Pitting him against Zack Ryder gives both a feud, gives Ryback a more reputable match and could be really entertaining. "Ry vs. Ry" features one man who looks too serious and one who loves to be flashy.

Triple Threat, Tables, Ladders and Chairs Tag Team Match: Usos vs. Epico & Primo vs. Titus O'Neill & Darren Young

Remember the first two matches of this kind? The Hardyz vs. Edge & Christian vs. The Dudley Boyz was jaw-dropping awesome. It kept the Tag Team Championship on the map.

Lately, this style of match features competitors for the WWE or World Heavyweight titles. Maybe it's time to really showcase the tag titles once again.

Alberto Del Rio vs. SOMEONE

Del Rio needs a match. He has to be on this card somehow. He came back so strong and it'd be a waste to leave him off the card.
