Affliction Does Not Disappoint!
Tonight was one night I was glad to be able to afford buying a PPV of Affliction's "The Day of Reckoning."
Unlike UFC 93, I was really pumped up for this event, as was everyone else I have been arguing with on the B/R Comments sections.
I am very glad I did not write an article debating the skills of the fighters and making any predictions.
The fights and all of the results were exciting and nothing like I had envisioned they would be.
From the slow starting fight with the continual groin kicks to the huge gathering of the dignitaries and stars after the final bout, I was as happy as a puppy with a full bowl of kibbles and felt completely within my element.
Nothing is more satisfying than being a part of a successful MMA event.
I sat with a huge smile on my face wondering if Dana White was too proud to shell out the $44.99 and was watching the event from Hooters and pretending that his friends had dragged him there against his will.
Hopefully he was watching and taking note of what quick studies his competitors are and also that he is dead wrong in his assessment of the best heavyweight fighter in the world.
Nah! That would be too much to hope for now, wouldn't it?
It was good to see former fighters from the UFC making money for another organization.
And No, I would not want to see the UFC run out of town by another MMA promotion, I think the world is big enough for more than just one big dog in town.
I am happy for the fighters. If Affliction can keep going and give them a steady income I am more than just thrilled, I will be ecstatic and forever grateful!
Having choices is the great thing about our society. For the first time we have a new type of president and I am proud to have voted for him. I feel the same way about Affliction. New isn't always better, but why not give "new" a chance?
The worst part of the fights for me is seeing a guy like Matt Lindland hurt on the mat and not aware of what just happened to him. I would have made him keep that damn neck brace on and ridden to the hospital with him for both our sakes. I sure hope he is all right.
The best part of the fight was watching Fedor push Mark Cuban to the side to let a huge Black man stand next to him in the ring for pictures post fight.
Just as with Dana White, Fedor is not impressed or intimidated by the men in suits. He is humble and not trying to win anyone over. His "pride" knows no price and is not for sale, just the same as with his integrity
So the king retains his title and I say "Long live the King."
And to Affliction I say, "Thanks for giving the MMA fans a choice."
