WWE Draft: Who Should Be the No. 1 Pick in the Raw/SmackDown Draft?
With the Raw/SmackDown draft coming up on Monday and the uncertainty of what is going to happen in the next few weeks regarding the WWE and matches leading toward Extreme Rules, shouldn't we all stop and ask ourselves, "Is the draft really that important this year?"
It would seem that with all the cross-branding and the new and old rivalries that have continued to form and stay strong, moving back and forth from Monday to Friday night is not that big a deal anymore.
Unless those in the know (creative and corporate) have something up their collective knee pads that we are not aware of.
But let's look into the crystal ball and become prognosticators for a moment. With all the "talent" on both rosters, who should be the top pick? Regardless of brand, who is the "can't-miss" talent that everyone has to have? Who is the Robert Griffin III of the WWE? Who stands to make the most noise and who is the one guy (or female), who can change the hopes and dreams of the WWE universe?
With all things being equal, I figure a few things will not happen. The champions will stay in place in terms of Sheamus and CM Punk. Also, Brock Lesnar, Chris Jericho, John Cena and Daniel Bryan will all stay where they are for now.
So with that understood, these wrestlers are worthy of being that top draft pick.
Randy Orton
1 of 6This only works if he turns heel upon coming to Raw.
Orton is still a great talent who needs more of a bump. The angle with Kane is good, but it cannot continue forever.
Something has got to give.
Kofi Kingston
2 of 6I like a program with him and Daniel Bryan. I also like him challenging Cody Rhodes.
There is so much to like about Kingston, but is he a serious title contender? I am not sure about that.
But moving to SmackDown would be better for him.
Mark Henry
3 of 6He is still the world's strongest man and he is still the biggest and most powerful man on SmackDown. If he moves to Raw, it means he challenges for the WWE in a program (moreso than now) with CM Punk.
Since losing the World Title, Henry has been a mid card wrestler who has way too much talent to be squandered.
Alberto Del Rio
4 of 6With Daniel Bryan back in the title picture with Sheamus, what happens to ADR?
If he is not in the middle of the title picture on Raw or SmackDown, then he is useless to the company.
He could be a product of the new stable John Laurinaitis is forming, but others like Lord Tensai and Brock Lesnar will not allow him to be the top dog in the group.
The Miz
5 of 6There is so much talent in him, but he may have sued it all up too soon.
Talk about a flash in a pan. But The Miz could wear gold again and moving to SmackDown may be the nudge he needs.
He spoke about needing "a little patience" with regard to his use or lack there of on Raw. SmackDown is the right place for him.
Cody Rhodes
6 of 6He is the most talented wrestler on this roster.
The back and forth of the battle with him and Big Show is old and to be honest, I think it hurts him in the long run, mainly because he is not getting a push toward a match with Sheamus that he deserves.
If Rhodes moves to Raw, CM Punk becomes a target. So does John Cena. So Does Kofi Kingston. And so on.
In time, Rhodes can be the biggest star in this company. Maybe a change of scenery will help him.
